That 50cm burbot is insane! Lovely vid btw. How long you been making them?
@castnorthangling59644 жыл бұрын
Savage Gear have been making them for a few years now. Not very expensive either

Just reread this comment and realised you ment making the videos 😂😂 When this video was done, only around 3 months

There seem to have been quite a few bleeding fish, is that a normal outcome, it's not one I've experienced myself. Do you think it might be something to do with the size of trebles Savage Gear use ?
@castnorthangling59644 жыл бұрын
This is a common thing unfortunately, the Gill rakers on the fish store a lot of blood and can bleed a lot even with the smallest of nick. So while it looks bad I can assure you the fish was not damaged. The hook sizes that savage use are to match the size of the lure, same as every other company with Lures the same size.

@@castnorthangling5964 I'm just watching the Rat ! They must be inhaling the baits to nick the gill rakers
@castnorthangling59644 жыл бұрын
Yea absolutely, if you watch some of the waterwolf footage they have no problem completely swallowing a massive bait in one hit

Can I ask about ure rod (😮) - i see it’s the Custom Fast Shad - I am using a bait caster rod currently in the boat - I think it’s 12 ft and it’s a nightmare. Would u recommend the Fast Shad for general lure-trolling work or is it specific to jig head shads? Which weight you using please? Thanks
@castnorthangling59643 жыл бұрын
Hi David, generally on a boat a 12ft rod is far to big, I have a number of Baitcasting rods and the biggest is 8ft6 Have a look at the new SG4 rods from Savage Gear. Check my most recent KZbin video lough Ree Predator challenge where you can see me using one 👍

@@castnorthangling5964 thanks for quick reply, will look at video now!! Ree is where my boat is at moment. So Sg4 Medium Game maybe?
@castnorthangling59643 жыл бұрын
Yea, the one I'm using is the 8ft6 - 130g, lovely casting rod

@@castnorthangling5964 mind me asking roughly where were ye finding fish that day? I have been struggling a bit out there. Hugging shore mostly and pikey bays, and inner lakes. Thanks again.

90% of our fish came in the weeds mate, shallow water

Is it worth trolling in december /january ? Only done it in summer with great results ;D
@castnorthangling59644 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, try using a curly tail lure and a trolling float or a planer board and then you can slow the troll right down and no risk of the lure sinking to the bottom and picking up weed or dirt.
@castnorthangling59644 жыл бұрын
Also important to try down deep
@wojbar56594 жыл бұрын

Love Ireland 🇮🇪. It would be so nice too go there fishing 🎣 some time , been there before but 11,5 years ago in Dublin just for visit. But OMG 😮 what a beautiful country nature 😌. Even though there was snowing 🌨 first time in 20 years when I was there pregnant 🤰 whit my son Emil 😌.
