Trolling for mackerel (catch & Cook)

G'day Legends, This week Shauno and I head out in search of mackerel by trolling some dead baits around my local reefs and it isn't long before we are on! Not just happy with a feed of mackerel we get stuck into some squid as well then have a mackerel cook up!

My guess is 9.5kg first mackie and 9kg second mackie, great eating size especially when you put a little bit of curry powder in a bag with some flour, dust the mackie fillet and pan fry in some butter/ olive oil , mmm beautiful.

Great Catch! The water was just looking awesome and choppy. In our part of region deep sea fishing and trolling is not possible due to very rough sea during monsoon season (June, July, August). Fishing season begins from September to March for anglers. Happy trolling both of you! Stay Safe!

Hey Sammy, Great vid as usual. What is your setup for this trolling. Can you suggest a rod and reel that I could multi purpose with. eg Trolling and Bottom bashing/ Jigging. I have a couple already but have a spare 8500HS reel that would be good to set up with something. Plan to fish off Noosa and 1770.

Tee Jay We do a fair bit of marling fishing and run mono. Not sure why but I think most would use mono. Think it would have somthing to do with the stretch for sure

We got back one snip snip mullet and a missing Bonny....1 hr later.....dirty ‘cuda....so devo’d.
