I just read my first Trollope (actually I'm 3 chapters short - will finish tonight), _The Way We Live Now._ It was great this was mentioned during the question of "How were you introduced to Trollope?" This is a long novel, but worth every word. I hope to get back to Trollope again real soon.

Extraordinary interview 👏🏻👏🏻. Mr Edwardas was a wonderful guest who had the ability to relay how readable Anthony Trollope can be. I have already been reading additional information on the website. In addition to Trollope’s Christmas stories which are on my December TBR list, I will be adding a full length novel to my spring TBR. Thank you Kate for introducing your viewers to this knowledgeable gentleman. Well done.

So surprised to open KZbin and see Dominic! I haven’t missed a zoom book club meeting in two years. It’s wonderful. You don’t have to be a Trollope Society member to sign up on the website and we have around 100 people from all over the world each time. We have a speaker at the start then break into small groups and reconvene for final thoughts. Thanks again Kate!

This made me so happy 😊. I had not heard about Trollope before I started watching videos from you and Katie. I bought my first book by him in the summer and now I feel even more excited after this interview to read his novels.

Superb interview, Kate. Mr. Edwards was a great guest and I went right to the website after wards It is so comprehensive, one could spend hours there. I have read about 20 Trollope novels and am now in the process of choosing another due to his (and your) enthusiasm.

This was such a wonderful interview! I could have listened to Dominic talk for even longer, his enthusiasm is wonderful. Thanks for doing these interviews each Victober! I just rewatched last year’s with the lady from the Gaskell house and really enjoyed it as well.

This was FANTASTIC!!! Trollope is my favorite author and I thoroughly enjoyed this. My first Trollope was also The Way We Live Now and it was recommended to me by my sister, Catherine (Taking Tea With Catherine). Thank you so much for this!

This was wonderful Kate and Dominic is such an amazing ambassador for Trollope. I don’t follow the book club reads because I’m usually already reading a different Trollope but they have some fantastic zoom lectures and an excellent website. I loved hearing the anecdotes and snippets about Trollope- having read and loved Is he Popenjoy? this year it was so fascinating to hear it was based on a real case.

What’s great interview! Agree about the rewards of longer novels and I’ve developed a passion for Trollope’s books over the past couple of years through the Trollope Society. Thank you for doing this.

This was a wonderful interview. I love Trollope. I’m currently reading Is He Popenjoy, and learning that it was inspired by a real event is so interesting. I hope this video gets more people excited about reading him.

A charming guest & a thoroughly delightful way to spend 48 minutes. I'm now inspired to want to read all of Trollope's books, too, though I don't know how realistic a goal that is.

Reading my way through the Palliser series. I wish I had read them when I was studying 19th Century British politics . Trollope humanizes the political battles of passing the great reform bills through characters like Phineas Finn.

Technological improvements in printing, for example, steam power printing presses, dramatically lowered book prices during the 19th century. An Austen Triple Decker would cost 1£-5 s.-6 d. during her lifetime. These were luxury items. By the 1870s the same Austen novel could be purchased for 2 s.-6d., a Half-Crown; a 90% reduction in price creating a mass market.

Great interview! Trollope is someone I've only recently discovered, and that thanks to Victober and booktube. I'm looking forward to finishing up the Palliser novels and then diving in to all of his other books!

This was such a great interview! It definitely did inspire me to pick up Trollope again and I love the idea of all the characters being on the website, must be useful for the Barchester and Palliser series especially. Fair play to you on getting these great interviews lined up

Interesting chicken and egg problem. Perhaps Trollope is not as popular as say the Bronte sisters or Dickens is due to the lack of adaptations. From the count I found online, there has been 3 Trollope adaptations during the 21 century. People in this age simply do not get the media exposure to Trollope.

Thank you for this great interview! The Eustace Diamond is the next Trollope I will pick up, as I am reading the Palliser series in order, and Mr. Edwardes has made me very impatient to read it. I also loved the anecdote about the fancy dress garden party! Trollope is such a comfortable author to read that I know I will always return to him.
