The 35 year old Commodore 64 I restored starting back in October was worse than any of these. It actually made my hands itch to touch it. I was cringing heavily. But after I took the motherboard and keyboard out and gave the case a bath it looks brand new almost no yellowing at all. Then I had to take the keyboard apart and clean each key individually wash the motherboard with IPA. Now everything looks practically new. Many of these old computers have the ground traces all wavy. Not mine. That board looks brand new except for the areas I swapped out the ram chips and capacitors. And it works really good too. I have a 16GB flash drive hooked up to it via a special part with tons of games on it.

When I had a 3DS when I was younger, the hinge on the right broke off (started cracking as I used the console a lot, crack got worse and eventually the whole hinge came off). I wanted to take it to a repair specialist, but my dad thought he could fix it himself. Something came off, so how does he get it back on? Using superglue. He superglued the hinge back to the main body, and then superglued around the hinge "for good measure". He ended up superglueing the whole lid shut. He realised his mistake and tried to open up the 3DS again, which he did. By ripping off the whole top screen. I still remember the sadness as he handed me back my two 3DS halves. Maybe I should have kept hold of it and sent it to you lol
@carlosmendoza11774 жыл бұрын
I think the one with the top cover that was made of glass and broke may be actually one of the very first models that was made, maybe Nintendo began making glass top covers, and realized how difficult it would be to remove them in order to repair the top screen, so they changed the cover to plastic instead

Careful with “untested” lots. I know a guy that sells these and when he gets returns he saves them until he gets enough to sell as a bundle and just mark as “untested” when in fact they are faulty, just barely though like a small spot on the screen that is dead as far as touch function does not work. Specific spots. But I’m sure you could fix those anyways
@LeSarthois4 жыл бұрын
Well I'm sure TronicFix shower those indeed, or on other systems or items, but yeah, a dead touch screen or even a dead/damaged screen on a DS/3DS is basically Level 101 fixing ;) A dead cart port tho, that's a more tricky thing, though not for TronicFix but for most people without the proper tools... I think the saying is "The best tools are the ones you have" - so I can't really say since I haven't used that many tools, but I really like my iFixIt Mako driver kit. It's a screwdriver plus a flexible extender with a bunch of different bits, some of which I didn't even know existed until I saw them in the kit. I mostly use the philips (I mean, it's probably the most widespread screw head type) and torx bits, but the tri-point and game bits are useful for opening up older consoles and cartridges.
