I Bought 13 BROKEN DJI Drones - But Can I Fix Them?! I'm trying to fix several different models of drones: Mavic Mini, Mini SE, Mini 2, Mavic Air 2, and DJI FPV. I've done very little work on drones before so hopefully I can get them apart, diagnosed, and repaired without too much trouble.

Unfortunately you can't swap gimbals, motherboard and GPS/IMU unit within drones. It's all paired with SN together. You only can swapp arms, 3 in 1 cable (flex in mini series that goes to Gimbal, GPS/IMU, compass and MB) video cable in gimbal and ESC board. If you are changing arms put it in the middle (fiddle between open and unopened state and make it stay there by itself) and push mechanism by pin from the other side. Same story with Air 2 drone. In DJI FPV it's whole another story, there you can fiddle around with them more. If you want them to be repaired the best thing is to send them to DJI. It's cheap and fast, and they have tools to do SN change on the paired parts I was repairing DJI drones for about 1y but DJI went with SN paired route and for now it's not worth it. On the internet there were a community app for paring and calibration of gimbals, but i don't know if it's working anymore.

Great job on the fixes! I’ve done a few DJI’s as well, very satisfying! Absolutely need to connect these to a controller and the DJI Fly app to fully test though. That’s usually my first step, since the drone can be fixed 100% but still not fly if it has been registered or “bound” to a DJI account, bricking it. Little use in fixing a drone that can’t fly. This is checked by going back to the main screen > profile > device management. The only way a bound DJI drone flies is if it uses the same linked controller that was used when initially bound. No way to link the bound drone to another controller. The other reason for connecting to a controller/app is that the drone will self-diagnose errors making the list of needed repairs more clear.

Of any channel I’ve watched on KZbin, I’d say this one is probably the best all-around. The premise is basically, YOU can fix whatever you want. It’s informative, it’s instructive and the creator is self taught and extremely persistent. The editing is top notch as well. It’s just a tremendous channel. Can’t say it enough.

I just got what I'm calling my first "real" drone a few weeks ago (DJI Mini 3 Pro), and I've already had to replace one of the hinge/shaft assemblies on a front arm - I know they're an intentional failure point (instead of the frame or arms themselves), but it's still ~$18 to source. Amazing what a drop from 2 feet into grass will do. :)

I'm not an expert by any means of the imagination, but my common sense dictates that IF the error with the camera's vision is happening, then it wouldn't be obvious to replace that camera instead of replacing part by part? Or it could be that you did all this to make a video! That last one makes more sense to me.....I honestly think that you are a very smart person.
