the decision to separate the decks in the span of different years like the 2nd side being 2014+ and the other -2014 was a great idea. Makes the power level, power-creep differences, and matchups between the decks MUCH more fair and engaging. Always hated how a 2006 deck vs a 2018 deck seemed so unfair that the 2018 deck in 80% of cases just beats them 3-0 with no problem due to differences in power-creep and cardpools

I love the ratings you used for each deck. Going to be amusing with something like Adamancipator which is basically 5 5 5 5 5 lol. But maybe it is on a curve. Spellbooks might be like 1 attack 5 defense 2 speed 5 consistency 5 recovery.

5 consistency? if we took newer decks in comparison by my testing spellbooks cant setup jowgen + fate that consistently. In old school days it was consistent in comparison with it's time.

Their searchers search other searchers which search other searchers. It’s always been the low power ceiling that’s the issue. They’d get their board ruined by Evenly matched, Lightning storm and DRNM, but they could set it up.

@@donaldlivingston75 Just my opinion based in my testing: i think they are pretty bad by today's standards, their consistency isn't that high, they brick more than 30% of times. Get stopped by 1 single ash or backrow removal. Their defense and recovery isn't that good too, since you only defensive card is fate or maybe a bad hard draw trap. If you break their boards they can't recover, any board is a problem. Double dracossack was a problem to them except a perfect hand and these cards can't even negate anything. If you break books board and setup 1-2 negations it's over even if they have 6 cards in hand because almost all books cards are bad.

Early prediction: Troop Dupe Scoop wins I'm not familiar with either of these decks, so I'm going to assume the newer one with card trooper (who correct me if I'm wrong was limited) is better

Card Trooper was not limited in Troop Dupe Scoop. The deck's primary play was to Machine Dupe three of them out. That being said, Reasoning Gate OTK is a very aggressive deck for 2005 so it should be a good match.

That goes to show. The old spells from back then are like 20 years ahead of their time. Honestly these decks from before all the staple spells got ban can still take convincing games off any deck pre Needlefiber. I feel like Needlefiber being able to setup the 100 negate boards is too much for those decks.

Leveraging the powerful plays that the deck can do turn 1/2 will help way more than trying to stall with goats against any deck post 2009. Also stein was 100% legal at 3 (of course impossible to get in the tcg at the time) for the side

Not really a point in going second against an old deck if you are playing reasoning gate, if the opponent can't otk, you can just pass by doing nothing (or setting scapegoat) and start with 1 more card. Reasoniny Gate will need more Brain Control pre errata in the side to beat the decks from 2015/2022

not sure whether I like the deck statistics thing. takes away from the nuances of each deck. Maybe instead a close-up of key cards? I feel like showing of the effects of the win-cons gives a better impression of what a deck wants to achieve than some numbers. Also gives a better perspective on the progression of ygo.
