Yup. Any one of the confiscation synchro or Naturia synchro ALONE probably shuts down enough of their deck to just win out of hand. Staring down both Barkion and Beast, or having three pieces ripped out of the hand in one turn, what can they do.

I thougth having to face Hyunlei and Gottoms alone would be bad and then Lithium reminds me Barkion is also there. This is looking brutal lmao. I actually kinda wonder if this was a match up thing back then since the pack with One day of Peace(what essentially brings this variants of Exodia) was still during the time when Plant Synchro reigns supreme and iirc Wind Up is mostly known for Zenmaines being such an unfairly good card that you turbo on turn 1 and watch it win game by themselves so X Saber should still be in the meta alongside Agents and Tech Genus Rush Rhino turbo

@@screwtokaiba X-Saber was definitely past its prime in 2012; hell, it was pretty much running on fumes by 2011. its last recorded tournament placement was in November of 2011, and the guy using it was only Top 32. But November 2011 is also the same month that One Day of Peace was released. So the idea that people were still running X-Saber in a rogue capacity in 2012 and encountering newly-minted One Day Of Peace Exodia players feels entirely likely. It probably wouldn't have been a real consideration for Exodia players, though.

You should definitely run a D-Draw/Exodia build during your next cross-banlist tournament! Chris Moosman’s build from Costa Mesa 2008 was a really nice variation, it’s also not fun to play against. 😅 I love your content, been watching for 6 years, and I always go and rewatch your videos of cross-banlist cups!

I guess people didn't really think when they thought Exodia would win against Beast and Barkion. Edit: This Exodia deck was designed to play against Inzektors and Chaos Dragons, which was the metta for Worlds. Basically decks that swarmed the board, but had few outs to stall.

This year for challenger appears you should do hypothetical decks as if they could be played today like if Konami decided for some reason to put all dragon rulers to max power with links or if they unbanned Magical scientist without an errata. I built these decks on LOTD and each builds a bunch of negates so would be cool to see how old archetypes/strategies would fare if updated with current card pool.

@@silverfang4583 it doesnt apply necessarily in all eras. as new draw card systems have been developed, they prbably had to ban them due to the existence of exodia. There is at least 1 era during monarchs where consistent exodia decks were being made. Regardless the point Konstantin made was that if tournaments existed in 2000, then exodia would have been tier 0, this was one of the reasons the banlist existed, cause you could just win in 1 turn. if you wanna test consistency you could always take the banlist off and place it against other decks over the years
