@@dper1112 The very first police force is just under 200 years old. Interestingly, it was founded on the principle that ethical policing was to be performed with the consent and cooperation of the population that was policed. Sir Robert Peel, the creator of policing and police ethics, believed community support was fundamental to the prevention of crime. To accomplish this support, he established that police must respect community expectations to build trust which would become cooperation. This suggests that early policing did not have the "thin blue line" effect of corrupt self-protection that we see in modern police forces. If modern police followed his list of principles as guiding philosophy behind effective policing, our communities would be much much safer and have much fewer instances of infringed rights. Police are supposed to be an alternative to military force being used to control a population, not just an alternative oppressive military force as is clearly the attitude in the US.

And of course police were said to be there for general public good, but the history books show us that reality never matched those expectations, and of course that was intentional. Yours is the most important and relevant post here. Aside from this one incident, EVERY CAR needs a dash cam, front and rear. For that car's benefit and others. Once per month, I drive for 2 hours on I-80 in CA where people believe that 80 means the minimum speed. And I am in a tiny old sports car. The day before I drive, I watch some dash cam videos videos about dumb drivers and accidents. And on the trip, my anticipation levels are much better. Many times I see that someone is going to do stupid ... and then they do it.
@nomasknoway9903 Жыл бұрын
I agree that cameras aren't going away. However, I can do without cameras or cops. I'm from a different and much simpler generation without surveillance and with far fewer coos. The few cops we had were still pirates and traitors, but encountering one was rare and life was much more enjoyable even though we faced financial struggles. We settled our own problems. No one ever thought to call police for anything. Today, there's hardly a day goes by we don't encounter a cop, and never a day we aren't surveiled, and it is getting worse. I feel terrible for this young generation and the future. I made it 59 years without getting arrested, and then WHAM! Five days in a cage no crime committed by anyone but the cops and the person who called them, tortured, sexually assaulted in retaliation for not saying nice things about them, acquitted, and an admission by the judge that the cops broke the law when they violated me. Not even a reprimand for the traitors.

Here in Somerset KY, people are always not stopping for ambulances on the main 4 lane drag. I don't think this is the root cause, but part of the cause might be the sirens are too directional? Sometimes, I don't hear them until they're right on me. I have my ears tuned to them, I understand how important it can be to get people to the hospital. Some times I can hear them with plenty of time to think about getting out of the way. Other times, no. Either I'm just now noticing or they worked better a couple decades ago. I dont' know. But it really ticks me off when people should be able to see them coming ahead, with lights flashing, and they get in their way anyway. I'm started to understand that some people can only focus on what's directly in front of them. Some people can't see what might happen in the future. Like predicting a car sitting somewhere, might decide to turn left, as you are turning left. (a close friend of mine does this, when the whole time I'm thinking that car might be turning left too). He their mind, what they see is static. They can't see into the future. I don't know. I'm starting to ramble. I'm getting old and starting to become a bad driver, but I'm still a lot better than a bunch out there.

I give him credit for basically being stopped at the beginning of the intersection (because WE'VE ALL SEEN sooooo many who BLOW THRU W/O LOOKING AT ALL because they're "running lights&sirens and it's on YOU TO YIELD"*).......BUTT! To simply "chirp" the siren, then hammer down and continue driving while not having clear view..... That's ABSOLUTELY ON THE COP! *About 20yrs ago a friend of the family, or I should say a family of friends of the family (or however you'd say that lol) got T-Boner'd by a State Trooper up here in Michigan almost exactly the same way except they were coming in a Y intersection and they were on the blind side. The parents had minor injuries but they almost lost their oldest daughter who was on the impact side of the car. The younger kids were somehow fine in the middle rear seat&passenger side rear seat. Oldest ended up being life flighted& made a full recovery but she got messed up. And just like this video, the dad got a ticket& a D.U.I even though he blew a .04 or something. Which is half the legal. Lawsuit was dropped due to immunity. It was quite a screwed up situation that they honestly never recovered from as a family event.

However, having the audible siren going continuously very well could have made the difference here. Cops always love using the phrase; _”conducting an investigation”_ … but it appears the other cops on the scene failed miserably to “investigate” any/all of the dash cam footage available to get a true view of what transpired. I hope the person receiving this citation fights it and is successful in having it dismissed, based on the dash cam footage.

Thank goodness for her dash cam.

Accidents happen no matter what they happen, but for the cop to go out of their way to a site, the driver is a clear demonstration of incompetence of power

It’s pathetic, how can these so called public servants families hold their heads up in public, it’s shameful, I am sure there her insurance company will fight this in court

This should have been the cop cited chirping isn't enough at a huge busy intersection. But to cite the civilian in this case is ridiculous. I hope she fights it.

The cover up began before the oinker mobile even came to a rest. I live in a downtown apartment in one of the larger cities in America. The place is crawling with cops 24/7 and there is a fire station two blocks away. Needless to say, there are sirens going all the time. I don't drive so I walk pretty much everywhere. My main destination is the grocery store a block away. Not once, not ever, have a seen an emergency vehicle go through an intersection without the siren going continuously. The only thing chirping is that God awful infernal horn they have. I have even seen them turn on the siren as they go through the intersection. and turn it off once they clear it. The thin blue line will never turn on it's own.
