Story for you. Harlequin came from a central Canadian city called Winnipeg. A great source of famous Canadian Bands such as Bach Turner Over Drive, The Guess Who, Chantel Kreviazuk, Neil Young, Crash Test Dummies, and Burton Cummings. Anyways, Harlequin played a concert at the School for the Deaf in Winnipeg back in the 70's and they aimed the speakers at the floor so the kids could "feel" the music.

Another great Canadian rock group from the 70's I grew up with. They had a lot of great songs such as "We're Here For A Good Time (Not a Long Time)", "The Boys In The Bright White Sports Car", "General Hand Grenade", "3 Dressed Up As A 9", "Janine", "Two For The Show", "Oh, Pretty Lady", "Round & Round We Go" & "Santa Maria".

As a Canadian, I think that especially our Rock music has a bit of a nuance that's very much our own. Trooper, The Trews, Sloan, etc

I used to have a 45 of Trooper's "Two for the Show". Just about wore it out. Great band, great song.

I was a young musician working on the road when Trooper recorded this, and it just blitzed all across Canada. I remember one gig where we ended up playing it about 15 times during the course of the evening. It was - needless to say - a monster in Alberta.

About 10 years back, Trooper did a tour and played at a fair near my home and so, there I was reliving my high school years. It was wonderrful. The instruments the voices had not diminished at all, and so we danced under the stars and sang along and in the middle of the concert, meteor showers starting expoding through the atmosphere above us, pyrotechnics that nobody planned, but sure did add to a beautiful experience. I recommend Oh Pretty Lady, Two For The Show, Santa Maria, The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car, General Hand Grenade and Round, Round We Go... I'm sure I'm missing a few, but that's okay. This song is the quintessential song to play in Canada at sporting events or celebrations to pump the crowd up.

Love Trooper- growing up in Detroit, I heard "We're here for a good time..." on CKLW. Before I moved outstate, I used to occasionally wander across the River to shop some Canadian music I couldn't find over here. Trooper being a fave. "Santa Maria" is another classic. Years ago, I emailed Ra and asked about the opening line "With only fear and good judgement holding us back...." which I still think is one of the great lines in rock music. Basically, it just came to him. Lucky bastard :)

Hello, brother Harri! You're really delving into the Canadian bands lately and it's so cool you've picked another one of my favourites. Not only were Trooper a group of really nice guys, their music was fun and driving Rock 'n' Roll. Like Heart, Bryan Adams, Loverboy, and Chilliwack, they were another local band that made good, playing the local high schools (mine included) and clubs before they hit the big time in the Canadian charts. They managed a long string of hits over the years, all of them worth playing again. Lead singer Ra (pronounced Ray) McGuire was next door neighbour to one of my closest school friends and we all chatted over the fence whenever the band wasn't busy touring. For more great Trooper songs, if I may suggest - The Boys In The Bright White Sports Car Three Dressed Up As A Nine Janine Two For The Show Santa Maria General Hand Grenade The Moment That It Takes Oh Pretty Lady Baby Woncha Please Come Home As always, Harri, take care and stay safe, brother. Peace

I remember when they were pretty much the bar band at 'The Body Shop', went by the name 'Applejack' back then I think (late 60's early 70's). We'd leave the bar drunk of course singing this song.

Yah. AM limit was 3 min 30 sec if I remember correctly, if you kept it to 3 minutes they liked it better. Back when AM was huge and FM was an "expensive option" for most young people (of which I was one, back then).

This song was a "social" staple here back in day. In my province we have an event called a social usually to raise money for a couple getting married. They are held in a hall and you have a DJ playing music and you can buy drinks and dance. A buffet is served of usually cold cuts, bread etcetera. Always a lot of fun and this song was very popular. Another newer Canadian band is Crown Lands, could you please react to them. They do a fresh take on classic rock. Songs, Leadfoot, Waterfall, White Buffalo Cheers 🇨🇦

The songs from 1972 onwards become more straightforward. Although they are still the baby boomers, Although Pluto is still in Sidereal Cancer, Pluto has transited from Pushya (a star constellation is the deity Brihaspati which is the sanskrit name for Jupiter) to Alesha (the deity is the serpent - people who are more concerned with riches, love and mundane affairs - the two ABBA girls wete screaming at each other but still together unlike Simon Garfunkel who do not believe in sticking to each other when there is antipathy between the). There were a lot of intrigue and jostling for power for the YOUNG, LATER BABY BOOMERS Tune aside, Alesha is showy, with all the instruments played up with full perks of energy just like ABBA and this group, withe serpent slithering on stage. You are correct. For Alesha the dtory is from real life like how the music composed. Very little with lyrics. Like ABBA"s Waterloo or even ABBA's Chiquittita which is an establish South American folklore. Very little to do with how the contents of the lyrics. Basically it is a retelling of an already established story and you just set music to it.
