So glad to see you do a Trooper song. They were an iconic Canadian/Vancouver band with many great hits. Their signature song is Raise a Little Hell, but We're Here For a Good Time and Santa Maria are also great. They have two great ballads as well...Oh, Pretty Lady and Two For the Show that are favourites too.

Another great Canadian rock group from the 70's I grew up with. They had a lot of great songs such as "We're Here For A Good Time (Not a Long Time)", "General Hand Grenade", "3 Dressed Up As A 9", "Janine", "Two For The Show", "Oh, Pretty Lady", "Round & Round We Go" & "Santa Maria".

Greetings again from Canada (eh). Trooper was another of the great and somewhat under-rated Canadian bands. It was hard for our groups to get air-time in the US, so We knew about them, but not everyone got to hear their stuff. Pity that.

I'm pretty sure Trooper owned this great little club that's shut down called the Starfish Room in Vancouver. So they were the "house band" and would open up for a lot of acts there. They were awesome live even in the 1990's

Saw them in a small-ish local hockey arena in late '77 in lower mainland British Columbia. I believe Prism opened. Rockier than I'd expected. Much of their "hit" catalogue elicits mainly a smirk from me, but there you go, or there I go. 🚶♂️😉👍🎶💃🤔🤣🙄🕊 Edit: Even a song like 'Here for a Good Time', whether or not it turned into a singalong, clapalong, stompalong or whatever(I don'trecall), still gained added heft from the live energy. ♥️ 🇨🇦

My boyfriend was friends with the drummer Tommy. Went to Seattle with Tommy 1973/4 to hear who I keep thinking was a very young Bonnie Riatt. We hung out out with a very flamboyant woman there. all in black flowy clothes, dramatic hair and make up. She slept in a coffin. she looked good and was very beautiful. Went to a Safeway for groceries and boy, was everyone staring. not you normal surburban housewife. Never will forget that weekend

Its refreshing to see how many great Canadian bands you've reacted to, Harri! Many reactionists are "discovering" great Canadian talent from the 70s and 80s and wonder why they haven't hear of them. The explanation is simple; mediocre bands can't survive in a small market.
@vampfashions8 ай бұрын
Far from mediocre bands (that's what we have today). The problem is when you get government involved with a heavily subsidized industry. They begin to pick political favourites and great talent is throttled back in favour of hacks from the right "area code". If it wasn't for touring in the prairie live music venues most Canadian bands would have been killed off outright. CanCon rules pissed off the American industry so they were quite happy to restrict access for our bands and artists to get support south of the border.
@Carrie-so3ro6 ай бұрын
@@vampfashions We've got FANTASTIC Canadian music - from the 70s & 80s & beyond even, SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE of CanCon rules! Before these rules, the radio stations PREFERRED TO PLAY FOREIGN MUSIC (esp. American & British who pushed harder & were believed to be what to aspire to) & it was RADIO STATIONS that KILLED OFF GOOD CANADIAN MUSIC IN ITS TRACKS! Once the CanCon rules came into effect radio stations hated it - BUT THE ARTISTS LOVED IT! MANY have been thankful & attributed their being played BECAUSE OF THESE RULES! These are Canadian artists from BC all the way across the country to Newfoundland - so don't put out crazily wrong info about anyone picking political "area code" favourites! I can name groups from ALL across this country that were helped & exposed to the Canadian public because of these rules! ALL of them were great & not "hacks!" Americans (with their HUGE population & love of everything American weren't going to give Canadian musicians a chance - & DIDN'T give many of them a chance BEFORE CanCon rules - so don't believe the lie that it chocked off access! The only ones who really made it in the US were really those who already had success in Canada - BECAUSE Canadian radio stations HAD to allow Canadian musicians a forum - so good Canadian artists got heard! by audiences who would then make them popular here (& only THEN would A FEW get noticed by Americans.) NONE were going to get noticed by Americans (as foreigners) if they weren't ALREADY popular in their own country (Canada). The belief by many in the 70s that everything American is better & what Canadians need to strive for - hurt many Canadians in many ways - but AT LEAST Canadian artists started to be able to show what they could do (which was A LOT) BECAUSE radio stations weren't able to focus on simply American & foreign talent. They HAD to give a showcase to Canadian musicians (which were EVERY BIT - SOMETIMES BETTER - than American & other talent. Almost ALL of the music that I listened to was Canadian in fact, because I preferred them, (& learned of them ON Canadian radio stations), followed by British talent a far second [& American 3rd.]) You are simply mimicking Liberal Party policy making haters - who don't use a single brain cell. Everything to these people that ANY Liberal does is ALWAYS wrong & EVERYTHING the Conservatives do is ALWAYS right. That tells you right there that they lack intelligence or have shut off their brains. No person, Party, organization is ever perfect! NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON! Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody also does some positive things. Depending on your VIEWPOINT, a person/organization (which is made up of all humans) will make more or less mistakes or do more good or less good. Anybody that believes (or says, maybe for their own benefit) that someone is 100% good or 100% bad is NOT ANYBODY to be believed as they don't speak the truth!
