Thanks for posting. Great stuff. I was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy but am very proud of my British heritage and the British military. My cousin is a retired RSM. The assertion that 80% of the American military on parade have never served is patently absurd.

As an ex-soldier (1st Batn Duke of Wellingtons Regt) I can truly say that after the wars we are currently engaged in are ended and the medals have been handed out and we fade into the background of the British peoples minds Her Majesty will still be there for us, just like she has always been there for us. We love Queen Bess because we know she loves us. I swore my oath of loyalty to her more than 25 years ago and it means as much to me now as it did a lifetime ago as an 18 year old lad.

This is wonderfully GLORIOUS! There is something so uniquely special about these great traditional events there in Great Britain. I love TRADITIONS! Makes me feel very, very grounded and secure. That's my humble opinion, of course .God Save The Queen! I love watching her in her younger days on horseback herself!!

My German Uebersezer colleagues are among my most congenial colleagues, good team players, helpful and fun to be with. So don't be ashamed of being German. John Donne says "For each is a piece of the continent, a part of the main", and I'm glad as a British citizen to be part of that complex jigsaw puzzle called Europe - with such countrymen as you!

Well said. It's certainly important for a nation to have their nobility and honor represented. Sadly, we over in Hungary, Austria, and Germany don't get to keep such traditions much anymore. The 20th century was not good to us lol.

The intense love affair between the Crown and Military is both heartwarming and most reassuring. For those who object to the retention of the monarchy - those guys in the black fur caps and red coats would like to have a word with you. The guys on the big black horses might want to add their 2 cents too. Good luck.

@IRememberTheOldDays Some do. Mainly because we don't have a monarch anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being a republic, but we are surrounded by monarchies. The Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands, Belgium...and Britain's not that far away either. I enjoy watching military parades, which is something we simply don't have in Germany anymore. Once in a while when a president (or, recently, the Minister of Defence) resigns there's an event that's broadcast, but other than that...
