Have you looked at Bushman or Evakool fridges, maybe throw a curve ball in and put in a extra “cheaper” brand as a dedicated freezer as a review/comparison for those starting out

Take a look at, or even better phone them and chat about, the Bushman fridges. I’ve got one of their 35/52 ltr fridges. I’ve had it since 2006. I have taken it everywhere, and I do mean everywhere, in Australia over that time. The worst roads Australia has to offer and a lot of proper hard core off-road driving. It’s been tied down in the back of three Hilux’s and a Cruiser over that time. It has never missed a beat and has performed amazingly well!!!! Very, very economical on power. Has held temp asked of it (including -15deg) always regardless of outside temp. Including regular ridiculously high outside temps. The design is very versatile. My wife, my mother in law, two dogs and I lived out of it for a year of remote travel in 2007. At present it in the back of my hilux as a drink fridge as my trailer has a 98ltr National Luna. If mine stops working any time soon, I won’t even hesitate to buy another one.

The Sunshine Coast in Queensland has two manufactures of fridges for your purposes. Most well known is the EvaKool brand. There is also Norcoast refrigeration with their Trailblazer range. They will also custom build dimensions. You might want to investigate a little further.

I have had one and no need for a cover and low battery consumption. Temp setting not quite same as inside fridge but I use a wireless fridge thermometer in the fridge. Happy w my 55L Evakool purchase in 2016!

Evacool make fridges on the Sunshine Coast (not all of them) but a large selection. I have had one since 2003 and it has never missed a beat. If my Troopy ever arrives from Japan that will be my main fridge/freezer - as I love cooking).

I have been using Engel fridges for many years and swear by them. I have two 60ltr Engels. I live in the Pilbara in a harsh hot climate and they have never let me down. Solid basic & reliable. I have 4 different trailblazers/norcoast refrigeration fridges ranging from 20 years old to 2 years old in different shapes and sizes. Made in Caloundra QLD the dear old love margret is still on the tools with her sons making them. Doesn’t get more Aussie or quality than that!

In Namibia , variety is limited, what I found very useful are the Dometic fridges from Waeco, extremely light on power, the controls are highly visible and precisely where they should be and that's where the lid opens.

I think that some of the evakool range of fridges are at least partially constructed in Australia. Unless I am mistaken they import the "cabinet" and then install the hardware and components locally. Looking at the website, the "Down Under" range is marketed as being "Tropical Rated", so good for hot climates allegedly? If Andrew felt like testing one i'd certainly be intersted!

I purchased a little XTM last year, and it's been great... It was cheap, if it stuffs up, I also know I can find a BCF and keep on going... Lighter than either my Engel or the other, which is a Waeco. None have failed me so far.

Evakool make some fridges here. We've had Engel, Evakool and MyCoolman fŕidges and all have been fine. The Engel 40 litre is still going 20 years later with our son. The Evakool is a 30 litre which we are currently using as a freezer in tge back of our Defender. The MyCoolman 95 litre twin compartment came with our new caravan and is excellent. Honestly, there are 2 main brands of compressor used by most fridge companies, so it doesn't make much difference which brand you choose.

Hi Andrew, have a look at trailblazer fridges, build on the Sunshine Coast. Another one is ozefridge, these are made in Victoria, ozefridge and the oze 80l holdover is a eutectic fridge with many cleaver features such as voltage sensing which ensures the fridge eutectic panel is chilled when vehicle is running conserving power when off. The fridge uses gastronomy trays and allows you to adjust heights and we have made an alloy tray perfect size for beer cans or coke bottles? Without a single rattle.

Nice love the troopy . wish we had them in the U.S. ,the car camper /overland rig I could build ,as we don't t have any true utilitarian vans or wagons , all our S.U.V.'s have to have independent rear axle for a smooth ride and leg room for the 3rd row , they are more of a 3 row luxury family school bus ,the 4runner is our best soild rear axle , Lexus GX 550 over trial is one to buy in the U.S.

I believe that Norcoast 12v fridges are Australian made, of course the compressor isn't but that's the case with any fridge. The downside to their fridges is the size due to their excellent insulation properties. You can't have it all.... ;)

I love all the toys you plan to fit. Two suggestions. 1 look at the weight of the vehicle. 2 the electrical system is complicated. Why not keep it simple and fit a standalone power system like goalzero, anker or bluetti?

I would recommend a National Luna . I have done over 40,000 km with only one problem which was fixed with no drama by the Aus agent, I expect to have no more problems. Operates sensationally well in the high temps.

Andrew, you need neither water, sink, nor drying rack for the dishes ; embrace (non-scented) baby wipes - they'll remove egg from fork tines, a grimace from a face (leaving it feel wonderfully clean), oil off a Land Rover diff, and easily clean day-old bugs off a 'screen ; they save a lot of water, and hence weight

The question regarding fridges could be a sore bite. I have had a range from Snowmaster to Evakool. Without being bias - the one comment that has stuck with me is to consider 1) good insulation and 2) good compressor - of which both that helps with minimal current draw. That’s the difference between and cheese quality- not countries.

I run an Evercool in my Dmax, a well made fridge asembled in Queensland with good backup service. Like most fridges, the internal baskets are not up to the same standard as the National Luna which I run in my Puma 110.

Snomaster knocked off a lot from others, there power draw from personal experience and talking to others is very high (the first one I tried was 5.7A and never turned off, the 2nd one they gave me drew 4.7A). They took it back and went to Engel, average power draw is 1.66A once reaching temp. I now have 4 Engels. National Luna are amazing but never tried them.

Hi Andrew I do see that others have mentioned Everkool no doubt some of the components are from over seas but as far as I know are an Australian company from the Gold coast . Mine is a down under 2 and dose have some nice features like Bluetooth connectivity , dual zone in different configurations, a lid that opens both ways or comes completely off and apparently energy efficient , but not sure how that would compare to the likes of your National Loner .. have a look into them and see what you think there price is very good as well .

to fix the dead spot space issue may affix cams so your aren't yanking the kneck ove the passenger seat it is easier to monit ya blind spot with a cam an monitor setup just remember you don't have a v8 in this weight will need to be reduced to comply with the engine

Nat Luna, like every brand, some good products and some poor. Their solenoid split-chargers are terrible and DC chargers mediocre. Their lights and fridges are excellent. A bit over-priced, but top drawer!

Andrew, we now live in a global economy. If the product you need is only available from one source you have no choice. If the product you need is made or available locally and is of acceptable quality, and you want to support local, do so, BUT we all have budgets we need to work with. The bottom line is, as long as the quality is acceptable, is accessible and is within your budget, it doesn’t really matter where it’s made or coming from.

just a thought, bbq station is nice. but it looks like it has a bad weight economy. great for a weekend with friends at the beach. but for long distance travelling, dust roads involved? nah. weird thing i noticed on overland or camping builds is that many people overload the kitchen part and turn it into a food truck.
