I don’t always enjoy Andrew’s videos but, as someone that started a channel and started to get traction, I know what it takes to have to think up new content every week. I had to stop because the bigger one’s audience, the more one opens oneself up to other people’s opinions. Waking up to abuse from people that totally missed the point is a horrible experience. Hats off to Andrew who has managed to make a career out KZbin and gets up everyday and keeps going at it, regardless of the negativity.

With the underbody tank, don't worry about a filler, you don't need one, I deliberated for weeks about what I was going to do with my Delica for a tank fill, then it suddenly dawned on me I DON"T NEED ONE, I just use the outlet as the filler, I put a quick release hose connection on the outlet, connect it to a tap and bobs your uncle. I can also fill from a bucket which I have done numerous times using a flexible hose and small funnel....easy !!! 🤠😎

Using Jerrycans while waiting for the bespoke forward tank is the best and most practical way to go. Rome was not built in a day.. and before you know it, time will have lapsed, and the new tank will be ready for fitting, and you will have a much better and more satisfying end result. Thanks for your honesty Andrew - let’s allow pure practicality to overrule aesthetics (those that love the V8 sound but ignore the fact that most of us want peace and quiet at 1am) - I’m sure your diligence and experience will produce a good one-vehicle automatic diesel tourer for many of us who don’t want to tow a 3 tonne suicide box, enjoy less fuel costs and a brand we know will get us ‘out there’ and back and still use in urban environments - many will be selling their V8’s to younger bogan chaps that miss their Falcon/Commodore V8 utes to perform donuts at traffic light intersections and sell their family members to get one at all costs.

Seems like they should have made the tanks taller and moulded to the cavities instead, so they could be easily removed and installed without modifying the body. I'm sure it would make it more expensive to manufacture, but with how common 3D laser scanning tools are these days, someone could make a really neat and easy to install product. I'm thinking similar to how the plastic OEM diesel tank is on the Mercedes Sprinter (and probably many vehicles) with all it's cutouts to account for the vehicle structure.

Bladders work in spaces that are even without protrusions that can cause wear and cause punctures. The body cavities are the very opposite of that, and if a puncture did occur, the entire interior build (to come) would need to be removed.

Are you suggesting I have a 'fabrication business' modify the cross members in Toyota's unbreakable chassis so that the tank can fit? I hope not.
@benfarmer94
@benfarmer94 3 ай бұрын
Sorry for the confusion - modify the tank to suit the car. Although I’m not a fabricator I’ve worked as an accessory fitter for a well known touring vehicle outfitter who also has a fabrication business attached, and this was a regular occurrence to modify aftermarket parts due to unforeseen problem like these. I understand you will loose warranty from long ranger however as long as it’s done correctly by a reputable fabricator theres no reason why they can’t provide their own structural warranty on the modified part, especially for something as basic as a water tank. Bit of fluffing around but would be much less than fluffing around with Jerry’s for a year.

It would be interesting to see actual true fuel consumption calculated from gps km driven devided by the amount of fuel to fill up to full again. Most people just give the consumption that the vehicle displays. In a variety of vehicles i have only found one that was acurate (2005 Mercedes A180 Cdi) the rest was always very optimistic as the actual consumption calculated was much less than the vehicles show. I believe that the only way to get the a true reflection is to calculate it from fillup to fillup.
@4xoverland
@4xoverland 3 ай бұрын
You are right. I did that, and its not what the Cruiser tells me. I measured 10.1L/100kms after a fill-up, while the car is telling me 9.6L/100kms. Maybe the pump is cheating? Or is the car lying? There is no absolutely reliable way to measure it.
@dewaldmaree2967
@dewaldmaree2967 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the answer sir, i apreciate it. As the time goes by you will be able to tell who is lying or cheating. Yes i agree one can not be 100% shure that the attendants fills it up to the same level everytime as you will know some guys here in South Africa will spend 15 min at the pump shaking the vehicle and filling again and shaking etc to try to get it full. I let them fill untill auto stop on the pump kicks it off and i found it to be very consistent for me.

With all the mucking around, lost time and cost, easier just to go to Woolies and get a few 10ltr goon bags of filtered water 😂😂😂😂

Another troopy build. So original. Love your content and will continue to watch but it’s a bit boring. Do another classic or something.

I understand you are obsessed with the troopy but come on, try something new so we can see what else there is. You don’t travel that often or do anything that you would need a troopy.

Andrew, You're not 'building a Troop Carrier.' That was done by Toyota in Japan. You're accessorising it, fitting it out etcetera. They are not the same thing.

Nick. Yours is an alternative but in this case, incorrect use of the word. Toyota manufactured the base car. Its not an overlander. We now build an overlander using it as a base vehicle. 'Build' is the most commonly phrase used in this industry, by the makers of accessories including tyres, tanks, recovery gear, lights, bars, tents, etc. Its an industry standard.

@@4xoverland To conflate accessorising a Troopie or any 4x4, with building it, is good old fashioned hyperbole, arguments from authority don't change that. I eventually commented, because you use the term consistently; every time I hear it, it grates. Perhaps I'm an outlying anal pedant! Either way, it's not the end of the World. Good luck with the vehicle.

Honestly your builds are awesome....but...getting boring all your builds are pretty much cut and paste from troopy to troooy 😴 seriously what you going to do differently it's always a product slam down our throats the only bloody difference here is the engine and that's nothing different that you can change other then you as always the same build...it's time to prove your a true journalist and think outside the box of your comfort zone that you know like the back of your hand....let's see if your a true overlander builder and pick another platform 😉 let's see what you can build

Couldn’t agree more. Andrew was magic in his series doing the CSR with his green Troopy then the Simpson desert in the same car. The films were epic and took the viewer along on a front seat ride. I really wish he’d get back to what he does best and move on from the repetitive same old same old.

@@4xoverland So you put yourself out in the public eye for every one to see, but get upset when comments are made towards you. All comments cannot be “O Andrew your such a great man “ Maybe you should be gardening. I have only stated a fact. It’s an observation. It’s also true. Yet your sarcasm and your comment remind me of my teenage son’s vocabulary. Yep decisions need to be made. Happy days.
