Always a good idea to give a new rig a full service. You never really know how well it was looked after, log books can be doctored. It still amazes me just how basic a 70 series is though when compared to most other vehicles on the road of a similar age, especially at their price.

Yeah it is mate , but i look at it like this , its simple and it works. The troopy takes same wheel bearings as the 76 and Ryans 80 on all 4 corners so we only got to carry one spare. I suppose Toyotas philosophy is if it aint broke don’t fix it. A lot of these cars (Toyota landcruiser) are all very similar. Cheers mate and thanks for tuning in again

@@shaddonaghue Thats a good point about the spares mate. It would help a lot more when in remote areas and such too as it would make things much easier to find & fix if something goes wrong. Thats why I do agree Landcruisers are a good remote travel vehicle.

The joys of owning two 4wds. I thought the engine oil looked pretty clean, unless it’s just the camera playing tricks. Never seen mine like that 🤦🏽 Some stamina on the Tommy Thumb pump. 🤣🤣👍🏼

Hoping you keep the mods ‘budget friendly’ It looked in reasonable condition , so carry the old air filter as a spare on those longer trips? Assume 15w-50 oil is the recommended weight, interesting how much thicker the oil is for the older diesels compared to modern vehicles - my recommendation is 0w-30 Cheers

I have ordered a rear bar , that wasn’t budget friendly but sort of felt we wanted it Yeah that the recommended oil on the penrite app. Its in fair condition, needs some shad love underneath and maybe some paint We’ll see when we get that far. Probably repack wheel bearings next

Ya saved 1000 bucks in labour 👍 radiator flush and fresh coolant to ? And I’m not mentioning ya stick graft hahaha everyone else has . Top effort mate we seen ya pump ,stretch , bang , squeeze and fill till ya had enough ouch me back was akin after that lol 😂

I love my Maxxis Razor's, they are wearing very well even after 30,000kms, just rotated and aligned them again ready to take off again up North to escape bloody cold Victoria! LOL

Good video mate. I must say. I seen the oil come out of the engine and thought. “ that looks pretty good “ then seen the gearbox oil and thought “ that looks a tad milky or something hey “ Always good to just freshen everything up mate that’s for sure I didn’t realise the FT’s in 79’s had 2 fuel filters. Are they different microns ? Looking forward to following along with the build mate 👌

Isn't it satisfying being able to complete tasks like these on your own rig? Since you do this often on all your vehicles, you should consider investing on a creepy crawler. It'll make life much easier sliding in an out under the vehicle.

Well I have an 75 Troopy and a 2021 Troopy.I too put a gear stick extension on the the 2021 model which makes it the same length as the old 75.Don't understand why you would do it in the pre 70 Series tho .but it is your rigg.Cheers.😒

@@shaddonaghue Yes, I looked at a few brands but settled on the Maxxis due to other 4wd'ers using them. Good solid tyre should do me well for a while. Troopy lookin good mate, looked very clean. Good find.
