Trophy Truck's Wheel Falls Off at 180km/h | Finke 2024 Episode 3

Here we go, it's Race Day 2 at the Finke Desert Race 2024. We're going there and back! The Twins are driving the #1088 Class 10 Alumicraft, determined to set a new speed record from Alice to Finke. Justin and Jamie in the #484 Trophy Truck seemed to be having their best year yet, but luck turns against them when they encounter unexpected challenges on the track.

well if myself and the family get a chance to get to Finke next year, i am quite sure both teams will be on the podium and we have been following the patriot campers since we meet in Melbourne at the mega 6x6 launch when the twins were quite young and i was in a wheelchair. and we swore that if we buy a camper it must be a patriot

ya problem was alloy wheels, next time run steel rims, they spring load the nuts where as alloys dont

@monaroman, I have to agree 👍. My 35” alloy wheel/tire on my landcruiser came of at very low speed . It sneaked its way loose somehow. Changed to steel rims after that episode after doing some research. Use steel rims on two more fourbys , happy days! Fingers crossed 🤞. And yes , I regularly check the wheel nuts and even torque them Down.

Do you really need to carry spares when losing 1 tire means the end of the race ? 200kg less weight at the rear end.

Spare tire is mainly for punctures, loosing the entire wheel is usually something more serious then just the wheel falling off.. additionally the extra weight in the rear balances the suspension out.. in the first episode juzzy explained that adding the extra weight to the rear made a ton of difference for the better 😊
