@@ghfudrs93uuu yeah, that's a great role. Why does he not want to commit to shit like that?! It drives me insane. He has the potential to be a great lead. He had the humor and dexterity to make it, full circle. And yet, after this film, the thing I most enjoyed from him was 'Edge of Tomorrow', which is a great fucking movie, but come on man! Break out of your Mission Impossible franchise and give us that great performance. The one for the ages.

@@NobodyCaresALot From what I gathered sticking with Mission Impossible was his way of recovering from the his image from the tabloid storm that hit him in the late 2000. Nothing really to do with his work.

I don't like Tom Cruise. Anyone that neglects their own child because they don't want to be part of a religion is a horrible person. But I'll admit anyone that ever claims this isn't one of the top 5 performances in a comedy of all time would have to be a moron. My stomach hurt from laughing so much at this back in 2008.

Matthew McConaughey's character is one of the most underrated performances in the film. He is the perfect stereotype of a successful Hollywood agent. When he gets so hung up on the fact that Ben Stiller didn't get his Tevo. When Flaming Dragon calls and he immediately thinks its another agency that Stiller has signed with and fired him because Stiller is his main source of income, and of course when he takes so much time to decide to save Stiller instead of letting Grossmen buy him a private jet. Its just perfect!

They missed their chance to make a Les Grossman movie it'd never be made today just like Tropic Thunder itself never would be. Comedy is over because of how offended pathetic people get at literally anything. Lines like "I'm gonna rip your tits off" would cause a firestorm these days. If they were gonna make a Les Grossman spin off it had to have been done by around 2012-2013. Such a massive shame.

These guys would be Burmese. The movie is actually super legit on this. There are several ethnic minority Burmese groups in Shan State who have been running heroin rackets for decades. They are sometimes hostile to the Burmese government, but the Burmese government also pits them against each other and they are heavily armed. After the Chinese civil war, the Chinese nationalists put 10,000 troops in Burma on the Chinese border. They stayed for ten years and funded themselves with drug money. Though withdrawn in 1959, not all of the troops went. Some stayed behind and became a sort of aristocracy in the drug trade. The Wa people, the Palaungs, some Shan groups, are Burmese, but they primarily speak Mandarin. So in Tropic Thunder, when the guys get taken by a Mandarin speaking drug cartel somewhere on the border of Burma, Thailand, Vietnam.... That is actually legit.

Tropic Thunder is one of the funniest movies ever. We can all thank Ben Stiller for putting this movie together. He also directed it. The whole movie studio/movie producer angle was all Tom's idea. The original script did not have any movie studio/producer scenes or characters. There should be a Les Grossman movie. Like how he became that great. And definitively the best Tom Cruise ever

Isn't he based off of Harvey Weinstein and Joel Silver. I highly doubt it'd get made today people are offended by anything comedy is dead.

@@markherring3513 I always crack up at Bill Hader saying that. Every scene in Tropic Thunder has at least 1 line that's quotable and that's not something many comedies have achieved. That movie is a gold mine.

That “Yes Man” really fitted in well as Grossman’s underling. “Welcome to the Goodie Room.”

He needs to diversify. He kills it at comedy. Maybe he should try action movies?

“Can you find out who that was” is one of the best written and best delivered lines of the past 20 years.
