Rescuers with less resources than county "shelters" ALWAYS do a better job, including with dogs. The shelters is US are based on penal system for over 50 years without much improvement. "Shelters" not only give animals prison time-- they euthanize millions of them every year. What will it take to ever change things??!

We visited the cat sanctuary, and it was absolutely wonderful. The cats live in a beautiful sanctuary, and are a delight to mingle with. Lanai is not a cruise ship island, but you can get a ferry from Maui. Go there if you get a chance, because the island is beautiful as well.

Visitors are mostly not respectful of the land, non-natives who own land there are purposely driving natives to poverty in the name of profit, the fact that it is literally stolen land (American businessman overthrew the monarchy then gifted it to the US government, Queen went to congress to get her country back by the way of all the treaties signed, US decided the threat of Japan stealing the islands was above keeping their word, so accepted this "gift") there have been multiple calls for the US to give Hawaii back their land, but the call of $$$ is stronger. So yeah, Hawaiians are pleading for people to not come.

Completely moved to tears by this! Thank You for reminding me that there's beautiful, compassionate people everywhere! As an owner of four former strays I feel disempowered that I can't take on more and I get so tired of the "Hate Cats" mentality that small people often have. Uncontrolled breeding of feral cats is far from ideal, of course. But this sanctuary provides them with a safe, loving home, making the best of a challenging situation. And hopefully the interactions with people there will facilitate their finding FOREVER homes with families.

Where did you get the idea there is uncontrolled breeding? Every cat in the facility is spayed and neutered as soon as possible. Until they get fixed, they are kept apart from cats of the opposite sex.

Dream come true 🖤 we have 4 rescue inside cats of our own, then a momma cat found sanction and safety in our backyard and had 5 babies of her own, we fed each of them safe wet baby kitten food, till hard food was slowly introduced and momma got her milk supply stay up by finding me! Its been about 6 months! They are still very much feral and watching them grow has been a joy! They go off on their own together and come back together in the evening for dinner!

Seriously, i never planned to have so many cats but it's one of the most adorable things in the world... live around cats it's so...
