I have a question... how do you catch the ones you bring indoors in winter in such a large aviary¿? I suppose you don't do it by hand. In a cage it is easier, but in an aviary with so much space...
@TropicalAviaryBirds
@TropicalAviaryBirds 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Most I catch using two bird traps or simply in cages where I lure the birds in with food. Few birds I catch by net when the sit in the small shelter. But not easy and sometimes I simply cant catch the ones I need to get 😅

Another question. Isn't it a problem to have so many different species in one aviary¿? I mean, in nature many of the species you have together don't share the same geographic region and even if they did, when they are free, they can fly away. Having them together in an aviary, if there is any bullying or aggression they can't really escape. I have the same situation with snapping turles. I must keep them separate because they are in smaller tanks and if they attack each other or even just try to mate, the other one can't escape and they can hurt each other. Here in Valencia, in a park there are two aviaries, one for canaries and finches and the other one for parakeets and agapornis. They are not together as they would hurt each other in the end.

Thank you very much🤩 It is both because of the size and plants - but mostly because I chose different bird species that do well together under the conditions I can provide. I could mess it all up by introducing few birds of the wrong species.

Excuse me sir, can you tell me what the white soft long strips of food are? Are they insects or some kind of beansprout? I breed white rumped shama, Common and White vented Myna birds, laughing thrushes, bulbuls, Silver eared Mesia, leaf birds and a few other species. They get softbill pellets, mealworms, superworms, waxworms, insects that get into their aviary, hard boiled egg, rice, and occasional gecko. I live in Thailand so the climate is perfect for them too. Your video was amazing. I would like to move to the UK and make something like that. I have started to get interested in Gouldian Finches and can imagine a big aviary full of them.. with perhaps, some zebra doves and Roul Roul partridges.

I’m sorry but if you’re unable to feed when needed you shouldn’t have THEM, either setup a self feeding system that covers you for a few days or let them go. They are pets like any other pet
@TropicalAviaryBirds
@TropicalAviaryBirds 9 ай бұрын
Well, that’s your view😉 I treat the parents perfect, but had problems with some chicks in a short period. Quite strange if you should sell of your animals because you have a stressed period in life… That would stress the birds even more.
@Boo-pv4hn
@Boo-pv4hn 9 ай бұрын
@@TropicalAviaryBirds it’s not a view it’s law, pets should have food,shelter and water as a basic necessity available at all times, we all go though stressful periods, when my dad died I still didn’t fail to make sure my pets had the care they need, when I went though a period I couldn’t I enquired about giving them up, but got someone in to care for them in the time being. There’s never an excuse. If you’re unable to do as they need then they should be rehomed with someone who can.
@TropicalAviaryBirds
@TropicalAviaryBirds 9 ай бұрын
@@Boo-pv4hn Hi! Dont think you really understand what I am saying. It is not like they missed food or water. They have pleanty of everything all times. They have insects and fruits, four softbills foods and often five different seed mixes. But some of these softbills requieres insects provided not only once - but several times during day to breed. When they only get once a day they stop breeding. That does not mean that any bird has been hurt or any bird died. No bird missed food or water at any time. It is more or less the same thing that happens when daylight slows down during fall. That doesnt hurt any bird - but they stop breeding. That’s it. What I provided my birds even at that time is more than most birds have even when they are provided for perfectly. So, if you think that I should sell my birds because I cant provide live food several times a day but only once (for short period), then I do think that is a strange view which I simply dont share with you. If I ever felt, that I did not take care of any of my animals, then I fully agree with you - then one shouldnt have animals. But, come on…. (I wont even get into my reasons for not being able to feed several times a day, because it is really not relevant for what this is about). And a question of true interest for me. Which animals/birds do you keep yourself? Kind regards Torben
@Boo-pv4hn
@Boo-pv4hn 9 ай бұрын
@@TropicalAviaryBirds when they’ve clearly got baby birds to nurse obviously it does matter and when birds produce eggs it robs them of nutrients needed to stay healthy, this can lead to ill health it’s also cruel. You’ve intentionally had breeding pairs! Therefor you should provide an appropriate environment for them, what makes it worse is, it’s not even like your ignorant! You’ve admitted you know they need insects though the day. I’m not the one making videos of my Pets. You’re making nests! And are talking about having pairings. Behavioural and environment changes can stop them from laying eggs if it’s not ideal, you instead have done the opposite and have tried to instigate breeding behaviour . Your intention’s are clear. You’ve literally put up videos of birds dead! Explained/given an excuse why, It’s not brain science 😒

Hello from New Zealand Torben. I see you seem to have some Zebra finches in the big aviary, if so how do you control their crazy breeding, maybe you just have males ?. Did I also see some Roul Roul ?
@TropicalAviaryBirds
@TropicalAviaryBirds 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Correct! As I lost my females I only have males at the moment - but it has actually not been a problem the last years. Yes - they get some chicks - but not more than I can sell. And your are absolutely correct - I have a male roul roul as well. Still looking for a female😅 😊👍

When does the male canary start singing ( the long trilling) .
@TropicalAviaryBirds
@TropicalAviaryBirds 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Usually, the young males begin to practice as soon as three weeks old. They should be able to sing fully within 2-3 months. 😉
