Love the Agave's. The Joe Hoak reminds me a lot of false agave (Furcraea)!

Thank You, saw the post this morning, and had several chores, still not done. Taking a break to watch now. I love the ferns! I have Ostrich ferns that came with the house , I love them. They look ragged in August. But I love them. I have been busy preparing my houseplants to come inside. I had a mealy bug problem, I used a 90 % solution of isopropyl alcohol and neem oil during the winter. They kept coming back. I brought them all out for the summer . The natural bugs outside did well in controlling, but I’m cleaning them with jacks super soap and repotting them in sterilized pots and Those little buggers are still in the little areas. 🥴 The weather here is getting to be under 50 degrees I don’t want to wait until I have to smash them in the house due to frost warmings. Which is what I do, because I love sitting on the porch having coffee with them Garden has some new plants plan to add more cold hardy hibiscus, maybe some mayapple if I can find them , but will have to wait for the houseplants to be cleaned. I have a lot. So cozy in the winter having them around. Long chat!!! Be Well Be happy, Be Safe. Enjoy your gardens❤️

Smart to get on it early! I've found I usually need to spray a few times before bringing the plants inside. Last year I filled a trash can with neem and water and just dunked everything in it that would fit. 😆 kind of worked, but with the mealybugs, I think you're right to just get them out of the pots and start them over.

Ive had a konjac...Lord have mercy. It was beautiful and smelled not so sweet. Love ferns in my garden. Those agave are dangerous!!! OUCHY! Everytime new stem; I cut the tips. LOL Nice haul.
@TropicalPlantPartyАй бұрын
Thanks! Not a bad idea cutting the tips. Have also seen people cap them off with wine corks which looks silly but also kind of neat.

Hi Jeff 👋 YAY another plant haul!! 😊 WOW the Lillies are huge and so unique 😍 I dont really have shade here yet... I am still in search of a type of smaller shade tree that will do well here in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast with so much heat and humidity 🥵 Theres A LOT of reflective heat coming off all the surrounding concrete from road, sidewalk, and our 6+ car size concrete drive, all surrounding a small front yard 🤪 Ouch.. the Agave... that Strawberry Begonia leaves kind of resemble my Cycleman as far as veining, but, of course those are much larger. I love the Joe Hoak Agave! Very pretty varigation on it. 😍 Thank you for sharing your new plants with us. You take good care and we will see you soon. 😊
@TropicalPlantPartyАй бұрын
The reflective heat is a killer! Hard to find many trees that can handle that. Maybe a medium sized crape myrtle?

I spent a chunk of time at that site yesterday looking at the agave and japonica's cause the past two vid's I keep staring at the coloring of yours in the background with new baby plant envy lol. My goodness does that site carry some wild things to dream over. Ok the Agave envy is real I have to sneak one of these guys into my Sanseveria kingdom rack and hope the snakes think its a distant cousin once removed. Killer great haul!🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
@TropicalPlantPartyАй бұрын
The agaves will go great with the snake plants! Basically the same care indoors, except the agave won't tolerate low light like the sanseverias.

Hi Jeff! What a nice plant haul. I don't have aa shade garden, but it will be fun seeing where yo plant them and how they do for you. I used to have strawberry begonias as house plants years ago, but haven't tried them for a long time. I do think they're pretty though. Poppy in the window was too cute! Thank you so much for sharing!

it is getting around the time to start thinking about the winter plants for the front border, that's about it. We're still well into summer, getting a lot of rain still (which is unusual) and who knows what hurricane season still has in store. I'm just thankful the whole house generator goes in next week and then I won't have to worry about hurricanes and no power anymore.
@TropicalPlantPartyАй бұрын
That's so nice you're getting a generator! What do people usually plant there for winter? Sunpatiens? Primulas?
@michaelmccarthy4077Ай бұрын
@@TropicalPlantParty sunpatiens, geraniums, petunia are the most common. You can still do Vinca or Pentas if you want.

Temps finally dropped the other day & I got to repot a few houseplants. (And forgot a few others lol.) I’m trying to weed a section of the yard…but it’s full sun & yea…baby steps there. It’s coming along though. Need to dig up more weed trees, but between the hot humid air & dodging showers…been a bit tricky to time everything.

Yes! I should have mentioned that. When they are mature, they'll put up new growth annually.

Jeff, I bow to your greater knowledge, but to an Australians point of view, they look like a bunch of weeds.
