I actually find that if you want to keep your farms working with good production is to space them 14 tiles apart, you're quality seems to either replenish at the same rate your animals kill it. I usually put down 1 cattle, 2 pigs, 2 goats, and 3 lama in order to get your bases covered, 3 resources for your cheese mill, and 3 wool for clothing plants..

I usually spare the mines until i can make stuff from it. It makes hard the early game, but makes wonders after that. I also figured out that ranches uses not just the place they are on but the place around them. If you place ranches far from each other they degrate slow enough that they are still above 90 in modern times (with the normal budget).

Thanks for all your work, it was interesting to watch.I didn't realize you could pay the trade mission with finds in excess of your credit limit. A couple of notes: -Animals in ranches appear to graze on the open land around the ranch, not just in the ranch building itself. I believe this effect extends the same distance as 'nearby' effects (14 tiles in a straight line, 10 on the diagonal). Your ranches are losing efficiency much faster because you have 6 or more degrading most of the tiles simultaneously. -I have never considered the $4000 trade offer to be worth it. Personally, I think the $500 might be optimal ($1500 is way more than you would ever get for a smuggler's trade route and a similar loss in standing). -I would have checked trade instantly and started a ship running. I would prioritize boosting Royal relations. -I would have put construction of the sugar plantation to high priority construction to get the royal quest line started.

Thanks for the tutorial video, Skye. I had no idea that the number of open jobs determine the number of immigrants coming in. I figured the constitution was broken in the World Wars era. I guess I never noticed it before as I felt safe with the immigration office from Tropico 4. Also, thanks for the teamsters advice as well, I always forget that they added the resource production function in the almanac. Opening with ranches is a good idea, I usually opened it up with cocoa/sugar plantation combination from before. I would assume the reason that you've picked pigs over cows is because the ranches only produce so much at a time and it would be best for them to focus on valuable meat rather than splitting it up into meat and milk. (Sorry for the long comment, had alot of things to say haha) x]

From what I understand, Isla Enorme was designed primarily for 4-player multiplayer. Resources are distributed so that they are evenly distributed to be accessible for each player. It's probably one of the last maps I would have suggested you sandbox on, though if you're doing it for min-maxing tutorial purposes I suppose it could work for that ;) The Page Up/Down keys also allow you to zoom in and out while you are placing a building. With that said, it would have been nice if you were able to change which keys or buttons do what. Also, one thing I do with logging camps is place them so they remove as little of the existing forest as possible as that will reduce the amount of trees that are available for logging. With that said, even with the reforestation upgrade, logging isn't a sustainable industry to invest in.

For this demo I think Enorme works ok. Logging camps are early game only which I think I make fairly clear as we go forward :)

I wonder whether it's worth investing in logging if it is going to be short term. When I do put down logging camps, I find myself avoiding building in those areas to maximize the amount of logs I can produce. I am interested to know whether the labor put into logging will generate more revenue than if they were say put on a plantation or ranch. In my own tests I've noticed that with an equivalent effectiveness there is not a huge difference between the various cash crops. As an example, I put down a Cocoa and a Tobacco plantation down. Both had an effectiveness of 179 (Max budget, +50 location and +4 Dynasty). With 8 workers the Tobacco produced 447 units per month, while the Cocoa produced 313 units per month. After calculating the trade value there was only a $42 difference between Cocoa and Tobacco ($489 vs $447 in favor of Cocoa). Sugar with a similar effectiveness produced 516 units at 172 Effectiveness and sold for $412. Even though the trade value of Cocoa is nearly twice that of sugar, it's only a $77/month difference. Cocoa takes a while (modern era) before it can be processed into a higher value trade good. I can see Ranches being relatively profitable as a pig ranch at 102 Effectiveness produced 312 units of meat per month which has a default trade value of $1000 with half the number of workers. Using the above numbers, 2 pig ranches can generate $624 per month versus the $447 per month of the tobacco plantations. Even considering the extra budget of a second ranch they are still competitive with even Cocoa and are atleast twice as space efficient (32 tiles versus 70). Will be interesting to see what numbers you come up with and what works best.

First thing .. you have to compare using profit/worker. Mines are the best profit/worker, then Pig Ranch. The problem with Ranches is they degrade at around 15% per year. After that it's upgraded Cocoa/Cotton.

There is a good reason for people disagreeing with the second construction office. Just think about it a little: yes buildings get done faster at the start which could start off everythign sooner if it werent for a few things which in fact dont make it faster but even slower to get the other buildings started. 1st it is another building which has to be build first, it costs money and makes no profits. But second and most importantly it takes up 8!! workers, which is huge especially since even if you build faster , if you dont have enough people to work the buildings its useless... i tried a few times but every single time i missed so many workers that it took longer to get to the profits stage compared to my normal methods especially if i crank all the budgets up to max

I think you could have saved some room by building the pig farms horizontally, instead of it being parallel with/on the road. At least 2-3 could have fit. Are the resources you mentioned/built the most profitable by trade as well? I check the trade contracts to see the values before I settle in on production. Are the efficiency upgrades for the ones you built compensating for the prices? Will you have enough ports for all those logs, meat, and cocoa to be efficient? So many questions! Congrats on finishing campaign. I am a few episodes behind so I will catch up over the weekend. Looking forward to what you do here.

Hello there! First, sorry for my english ... I am Spanish (No Tropicano:) ... I consider something "experienced" when playing tropico, but... I always make homes near jobs (when i say work, i mens primary sector (agriculture, mines...) or second sector never count whit the thir, services) in proportion of workers, for example: Plantation workers 1 = 8 = 2 Country houses. (colonial era) 2 * Plantation (16) + Teemsters (8) = 1 tenement Well, I know that much, because houses represent, but I have this ratio in almost all the tropics that game, then when it reaches that "small neighborhood" "50" workers (4 or 5 Tenaments), I do leisure services, medical ... garage ... church ... in the end I think a small neighborhood of houses ... Then I look at the calendar and generally I have not to worry about the houses of the services sector, or as much any. Also, to this "proportion" there is services for the children and "grandpas :P" My question or request is ... As the mechanics of the inhabitants work? I mean, go home, work, then ... What they do? the church will not go ... Tropico 4 is mechanically worked pretty well, but I have some problems tropic 5, it may be because more citizens use the services sector or not ...> __
