Rangers on the AM dial has always been king. Too bad they're not as close to the ice at the Garden as they were in the 80s and 90s. The most natural sound of the puck hitting the glass next to actually sitting rinkside.

Rangers have scored 4 of their 8 goals, in this series, via 5v5, and scored 11 total goals, in the playoffs, via 5v5. So, the lack of 5v5 scoring is a myth. Also, the media ignores how putrid the Canes PK has been going back to the Isles series

I couldn’t take it! Muted the game half way through the first and only put the sound back on for overtime. Seems like a lot of Canes fans hate McDonough and Ferraro just as much… Baffling that the broadcast is universally hated by everybody but continues to stay the same. I don’t get it. Also shout out ESPN for cutting to the Avs game at the end of the third! Tie game, Rangers have the puck with a few minutes left but yeah let’s see what’s up in Dallas!? So help me God if the Canes scored when the feed was out..

Trouba knows his role and does it exceptionally. He had a little shaky later end of the season for him. But i love his grit and what he does and especially how hes started this series. We need his hits and other player to kno n have that im the back of their mind coming down the middle or in a 50/50 puck chase. I love the captain man and how.he goes about his business LG Ranger!!! I think the difference in treatment comes from the fact that rangers finished the season +2 5v5 whereas the canes finished +25. Therefore, statistically speaking, since most of the game is played 5v5, the canes would be favored.

@alexandercohen7277 I would tend to agree with you. I think the truth is that the Rangers will not overextend and take risks on 5v5 when they are already up due to a pp goal, NO MATTER WHO THEY PLAY. I see the Canes as a great team, who generates on 5v5 through zone pressure and shot volume. They scored big against lesser teams, but they are not dynamic. They don't have much flexibility in their style, and I think that is what is exposed right now in the ebbs and flows of the game. The only thing I can't answer for the canes is their PP, but I didn't watch them a lot this season. If they look to generate the same way on PP as 5v5, a.k.a slap from the perimeter and look for 2nd chances, that style will not do them any favors.

As far as the 5 v 5.. I feel like that was something everybody was trying to beat the rangers up on all year long. We can't forget the fact that lindgren trouba and fox we're all out for a good chunk of time.. with that said playing slightly reserved on the offense - not getting too cute, or getting caught to deep was a smart move Imo. Not to mention the 5v5 stats leveled right out end season. This is an elite team.. micro manage as you will. All teams have strengths and weaknesses... We have elite faceoff.. elite pk, elite pp, elite goal tending (even sub) , elite defense. elite shooters... I mean.. get with it fellas. And if the hurricanes were so good, and didn't just rely on the power play like apparently the rangers had.. it's a shame they lost 2 of 3 times we met reg season.

I had to subscribe to KZbin TV just to watch the playoff games as I am in San Diego. I think there is still a chance big tech steps in to buy the broadcasting rights because right now, it is a mess.

I don't mind Ray Ferraro, but that could be years of playing NHL on my Xbox lol. But ESPN's coverage is boring, TNT blows them out of the water and it isn't close. I miss Doc more and more every day tho.

Underrated horrible feature of ESPN coverage: keeping the only color commentator between the benches so their mic is on 100% of the time, picking up the sound from one specific spot in the building that gets mixed as commentary. It clashes weirdly with the ambient sound that’s lower down in the mix and I hate it. Just let Ferraro be in the booth with McDonough and have someone else between the benches for periodic check-ins.

Trouba is the worst defenseman we have. He has zero mobility and all he can do is block shots at this point. He has not made any big hits in months. Hopefully the Candy Canes do not realize this and exploit him.
