While this may seem overwhelming, it’s actually quite reasonable if you tackle 1 example at a time. Then repeat repeat repeat with several different examples, before moving onto the next usage. Read conversations, books, etc. that use “quedar” in these settings. Finally, practice saying each example of quedar in a conversation with someone else or CHAT GBT :)). Exposure and repetition and it will become natural. Just like with “por vs para”

Falta "quedar con" como concertar una reunión (tu meet up): "He quedado con él en la sala de reuniones". También hay quedar de comprometerse: "He quedado en llamarle por teléfono esta tarde."

This is why I read in Spanish to see how certain words or word chunks are in certain contexts. I always see quedar or quedarse written and it does throw me off. This is the beauty of reading with a Kindle vs. a physical book. Just highlight the phrase and it gives you a loose definition in each context.

Gracias, Maura. "Quedar" es probablemente más confuso que "llevar" y ambos son bastante confusos. Supongo que debe ser similar a cuando los hispanohablantes que aprenden inglés tienen que aprender la palabra "get". Usamos "get" mucho y con muchos significados, especialmente al hablar. ¡Cuídate y un fuerte abrazo! 🤗

@@MauraSpringSpanish Gracias por tu respuesta, Maura. Siempre tengo curiosidad sobre cómo los hablantes de otros idiomas aprenden inglés, y "get" parece realmente interesante. Puede significar "obtener"/"conseguir" (I need to get a new job), "recibir" (Did you get my e-mail?), "llegar" (I will get there at six), "comprender" (I don't get what you're saying), "comprar" (I need to get eggs at the supermarket), "tomar" (I get the train to work most days), etc. Por no hablar de los phrasal verbs: "get on" (subirse), "get up" (levantarse), "get back" (volver), "get along" (llevarse bien), "get over" (superar), "get out" (salir), etc. ¡Es una locura!🤣

¡Mil gracias a ti por estar aquí! En ese caso, como tenemos el verbo "congelar" probablemente lo usaríamos en lugar de "quedar": el agua se congeló. Pero si hablas de una persona, sí funcionaría mejor: después de la noticia, Carla se quedó como un hielo. =)=)=)

I hate this verb. It has tricked me too many times. Sometimes it means "change" or "become" but more often it means "staying the same" which is the *exact opposite* of "change". Then like echar it has a bunch of random meanings depending on the context that will make no literal sense if you aren't familiar with them which you won't when you're learning Spanish. I'm also not a fan of the "que" verbs because I often have to say "que que..." which sounds silly to me. But it *is* a regular verb so I guess I shouldn't completely hate it.
