Be cool if you could just output to native MP4 or other format of your choice, rather than having to export everytime, also it looks to only support 1080p resolution at the moment. I love what they've done so far though, very nice start.

Wow this is insane. I mean if this are as good or better than Shadowplay then I would definitely switch. Shadowplay sometimes are so buggish eieff and I won't bother with OBS or Steelseries either so yeah. Need to look forward what this piece is capable of by myself later. 🤷‍♀

As a Nvidia Shadowplay user i really love this feature for the quick and easy way to clip things and all the ways you're able to share it, the editing overlay... I would like to see in the future when this feature releases if having Steam Clips and Shadowplay enable at the same time would affect that much the perfomance Thanks for these in depth video as always!

I tried it out a day ago on my Steam Deck. It doesn't impact performance too much. Pulled 2W more in my lighter titles (Dead Cells from 6W to 8W. That's -2h playtime right there). Think I'll record steam link app to capture my Deck I tried to export my clips to mp4, but it didn't work. So I couldn't do anything with my recordings that were over 60s long :c Switching to Steam Client Beta also disappeared my Decky plug in, so I ended up switching back :c Until I can export as mp4 and upload my clip to KZbin, it'll be useless

im on a low end computer and damn i didnt notice any issues at all. fps of my games were fine so farrr. better than third party apps imho.

i dont know why, but the microphone auto-detect is horrible, sometimes i say 1 word from a sentence, then full sentence is heard and then again 2 words from 5 detected, already tested all the settings, volume and adjusting auto-detect... My microphone is completely fine on discord or when im recording any other in-game talk...

Currently the max I can get is 9,999 minutes and at the highest quality it says it will take up 1.8 TB of space. I am really hoping for a way to specify games that I don't want recorded.

Leave it on, your card doesn't support NVENC but it probably supports hardware encoding of another codec.

hopefully they enable higher resolution recording at some point and higher bitrate. 1080p at 24Mbps is pretty bad quality and no where near good enough to replace shadowplay which is a shame as the functionality is way better it's so much better it's still tempting to use despite it looks crap.

I've been looking for a Shadowplay alternative, since my buddy records our sessions and that stupid program keeps recording our discord too, which I hate hearing. OBS doesn't work for him for whatever reason, so any program that just records gameplay only is gold.

This actuslly is a great feature, but i need help, its not catching my mic so when i have my mic turned off *its bluetooth btw* the sound works but when i want to chat in-game and so i turn on my mic and the sound is gone when i later check the video it recorded

so if you set it to say 5 minutes recording and hit the hot key can you keep playing and say 30 minutes later goes by and you hit the hot key again will you have the two 5 minute clips saved?

120 minutes at default, think you can adjust it either longer or shorter.

04:45 WRONG INFORMATION Nvidia has 2 different of NVEnc the one that's built straight into kernel level of GPU's main chip the one that came along with Nvidia Driver Only, I repeat, ONLY Nvidia Shadowplay has direct access to Kernel Level NVEnc. No other tool can gain access to it because Nvidia Hard Coded that particular NVEnc. Not even OBS or Steam Game Recording. So you will definitely feel performance slowdown when using anything other than Shadowplay

What if you play for like 4 hours straight? I mean when you make 240 minutes and then you go 300 minutes what happens?

With whatever time you set on the background recording it's basically gonna be like the PS5's background recording it will record your game and once it goes over that set time it will start removing the oldest footage at the back to make space for the new recording, if you switch games like say you play some Portal 2 and then Team Fortress 2 after that, it will start clearing up the old Portal 2 footage until it's all gone and then start cleaning up the next newest game you recorded. 240 minutes of background recording on the default quality setting (12 Mbps) is only 21 GB of space and I usually turn the quality setting down to medium (7.5 Mbps) which cuts it down to 13 GB, so you can have it record in the background for a very long time without using much space.

WARNING FOR STEAM DECK USERS: Unless you are someone who’s used to tinkering with PC and stuff I would advise to not use beta. My steam deck just got corrupted and after going through an extensive process with help from Valve Support, the only solution was to do a complete reimage of the OS. Meaning you will lose everything on your steamdeck and it will be factory reset. I just lost multiple gigabytes of clips, screenshots and save states from various games because my dumbass didn’t back anything up and kept it all on the internal hard drive. Be aware, the stable channel is called “stable” for a reason

It'd be nice if you could. Sadly removing it would also pull their API's & drivers, game, performance & graphics profiles. Forcing your system to use Micro$oft's generic video drivers to run the card instead. So unless you plan on switching to AMD or Intel Arc & use there software you'll need to keep it or suffer drastically worse performance across the board. It will have basically the same effect as you opening your device manager, & rt-clking uninstall or disable on your (wireless NIC card) for example- no internet; till you re-enable or re-install.

This is kind of irrelevant feature even before release every GPU has recording in drivers, Microsoft has built in recording in windows?? that does everything here already. not to mention love valve but they are not known for frequent updates + there's also OBS
