Enjoy your retirement Kevin. My dad retired about 8 years ago from being a truck driver all his life. He loves it. He said it’s freedom finally haha. I thought DJI are banned over your way now ? I’d say those landings were spot on and very accurate as far as GPS goes. Oh and James is back in the good books. Had a flight yesterday to check out my neighbours roof. Gimbal worked fine, it was the setting up process I messed up previously 😂 Take care and all the best 👍🏼 (love your odes to dukes of hazard)

The beauty of the RTH operation is that it’s a triple redundant operation.. whether precision or otherwise 1st..operator initiated (software programmed signal interrupt) 2nd.. true signal loss (controller based) 3rd.. low battery interface (drone power initiated) IT’S WHY SETTING THE SAFETY SETTINGS TO RTH PREFERENCE FOR SIGNAL LOSS OR LOW BATTERY OCCURRENCES BEFORE FLIGHT IS IMPORTANT!

RTH landings has nothing to do with the remote antennas since it uses GPS signals. You can even turn off your remote and it will not effect how perfect it lands.

I'm thinking that "unsuitable area" issue may be due to the lack of contrast on the truck cover. It only showed up when the drone was farthest off the pad. Try taking off without the pad, or take off with the pad, then remove it before the landing. I think either will get the warning. Then try running a couple of strips of masking tape across the cover and repeating the test. It may be that breaking up the black hole will give the sensors something to work with.

Congratulations on the retirement brother, at long last and well deserved ! Enjoy your retirement and the drone flying with Mrs R ! Another fantastic test and entertaining too! Think this one has to go down as a mystery , didn’t look much wrong atall there with antennas up or down! Great precision landings again! Did you notice if the home point updated glitch has gone from the mini 2 yet , the one were it repeats it 2 or 3 times and flickers? Well have a great week brother and congrats again on the retirement after such a worthwhile job ! 🙂🙏🙏🙏

There are antennas on the two front arms below the motors. Doesn't really matter how you place your remote antennas if you're near it because the drone can receive the signal vertically & horizontally. On the drone the antenna pads is vertical below the motors but the wires run horizontal which receive some horizontal signal too if you keep your remote antennas unfolded. Best signal strength connection if you're far way is to have your remote antennas vertical like the antenna pads on the done.

I once flew over 8 kms / 4.8 mls with the Mini 3 Pro and the old RC with internal antennas only in a rural area up to the point the signal got so weak that the link almost broke and I felt unsafe and turned back. I think you need to test the antenna performance this way and compare the max. range you get. 600 ft. is just not enough by far. Best wishes for your retirement! Have some 7 years to go to get there.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Happy retirement! Does this mean you're no longer a peacemaker? 😉 BTW, did you survive Helene? Been thinking about you, and praying you & Kristi were OK. Another great test video with outstanding results. I don't think the antennas up or down make much difference until Dwight is out a ways, or you're down in the trees, where the signal starts to degrade. I made it out to 3.6 miles from a mountaintop with good line of sight before Hape hit low battery RTH, but I still had a good 5 bars. Enjoy your retirement, and travels. I hope to see you when you make it out to northern California!

Congratulations on your retirement!!! Interesting test. I am thinking out loud here....technically if your controller lost its power the drone should land on that pad . The return to home is essentially going back to where it took off, and is not using the controller, so the antennas are not a factor correct? So having them up or folder for the return to home should not make a difference in my mind.

Congrats on your retirement :) I do enjoy your tests, but this one has been one I can't see the logic behind. The position of your antennas should only be able to affect one thing - your signal strength at distance. I am a bit confused about why you thought there could be a link between any sort of gimbal-related problem or a precision landing thing to aerial positioning !

Hi Kevin, Was that jittery compass/radar (bottom left thingy) as per normal?. I thought it was a tad moreso today. Trusting that you enjoy your life transition, and that you don't keep pulling over olde dudes for being a touch naughty. You can leaf that for the younger dudes and dudettes you just left behind. Well of course you left them behind; they can't keep up with you !! 😂😇 By the looks of that "flag on the dock" (a new song title?? ), there was a bit of blowy stuff happening there. This test might not have been quite as you anticii patte'd, but it was nonetheless delicious. Impressive RTH akk, er, eck, um ikc,,,gr!; bullseyededness right there. Take care you two, God Bless. noel of the northern rivers region, NSW, Oz. {go left a long way until your feet are out of the big puddle}. 🙃🤠🙏🙏

ANT? Really ... I think your gimbal has a grasshopper in it sometimes! And I think your tests are restricted to one geographic area ... and if you want some diverse locations and did same tests in Nova Scotia and Colorado ... all the driving to get to those locations would need your truck to be RE-tired! LOL! Looking forward to what verse comes next!!!

Those antennas have nothing to do with the missed landing spot, it's going off of gps data in the drone, try letting the drone get a full signal, then reset the home point, it's not going to be super accuate. . You've seen the expensive equipment surveyors use that gps is good within a few inches of accuracy
@SoCalDrone
@SoCalDrone Күн бұрын
Congrats on the retirement.. i think if you turn off the controller shortly after you initiate the return to home it will land on the landing pad. The coordinates used by the drone are established and locked in on the drone and have no bearing on the controller signal once set at the launch. That’s proven by the landing results of the drone when you lose signal or the battery dies on the controller mid flight.

You didn't lose me! Just... go easy on me! Everything I did was legal. At one time. True it was before civilization, and sure the Egyptian's had some funny ideas, but before that... okay okay. MOST of the stuff I DIDN'T DO was not considered NOT illegal, in SOME jurisdictions, that I didn't live in anyway. Know what I mean? I hope so, and if you do, please explain it to me. I was over the legal limit when I said that. I'm NOT saying limit for WHAT, that would be giving away the game. Ok nuff said. Or maybe too much said. 🤔 I haven't gotten past "What's this video really about yet. Okay skipped ahead. You're STILL testing landing behavior? I suspect you know more about DJI landing behavior than anyone. Did I say "Suspect"? Ignore that. You're retired. I'm just tired. Next year maybe, hell- I might go for all four, they are pretty worn. 😮
