It's always a relief knowing other people have problems fixing this old equipment. My system isn't showing a screen after a recap, either. I'm thinking maybe it's the fuses, or I did the caps wrong, or that I'd be better off just replacing the screen with something more modern (and visible).

@jessragan6714 how did it go, was it a fuse?

Hi I’ve 2 gamegear and I’ve replaced all capacitors but I’ve vertical Lines on first and blank screen on second
@totalfix877 Жыл бұрын
My suggestion would be to make sure that nothing on the board got damaged during capacitor replacement, as too much heat can damage neighboring components. If everything has been checked from there, I would start with areas that you mentioned, for example the blank screen. Was the screen previously working before the capacitors got replaced? Are the fuses blown out? Is there any corrosion near the pins? Things that can be identified from visual inspection that may look off.

@@totalfix877 Before recaps the situation was more bad. It wasn’t audio. I find much corrosion on Board. Now the screens doesn’t good. Before buying two ips screens I would like to improve the reading of the cartridges which are often not recognized. What could I do?

Game Gears are notorious for having bad/leaky capacitors. Hopefully you can find a local shop, I would take it off your hands and look at it, but I don't actually service other peoples systems at this time unfortunately 😢

I guess I should start by asking, was it working fine previously? This helps me understand a bit better what might be going on

After recapping fully my one shows a few lines at the top left of the screen, with full backlight so the display could be faulty not backlight

Can I send you a game gear to repair?? It's not black screen but not able to see anything.

This needs a proper calibrated fuse
@totalfix8775 ай бұрын
The fuse used was within the same specifications from the repair manual for Game Gears. 1 Amp 250v thermal fuse with a rated temperature of 100 deg Celsius. Pin length of 39.5mm and fuse length of 6mm.

@@totalfix877 just to make sure youre in on the joke. this is suposed to be a fun reference to another electronic repair youtuber who would have soldered a wire between the pads and called it a 'proper calibrated fuse'
