Found this video on my recommendations; immediately subbed! Can you do a Neo Geo Pocket Color repair? I’ve never seen one done before.
@KennethPlaysOfficial6 сағат бұрын
Make sure you test it a lot with a game with heavy cutscenes like Mario sunshine to ensure the disc reader is powerful enough. At first it seemed like I fixed it until it gave me a disc read error at a cutscene.

I cleaned exactly everything you did in this video and it still won’t connect to receiver. Any ideas?
@totalfix87716 күн бұрын
Sometimes the receiver is broken beyond repair due to corrosion, this is common....I've tried to look for replacement components, but the closest I have come to this is just finding the piece itself broken or working....
@d2champion9318 күн бұрын
Hello, what would you recommend for light corrosion where the AV port meets the board? Those 5 silver pins on the top right?? I have heard to use magic eraser but id like feedback
@totalfix87716 күн бұрын
I would resolder them with a bit of flux. The flux itself should get rid of most of the impurities. However, if you dont want to go that route due to the limitation of hardware, you may get away with cleaning it with some 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. In regards to the actual pins themselves, people simply use the end of an eraser to clean them with some 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. An eraser should work as well as a magic eraser, but if you already have the magic eraser on hand, then you can use it. Note: If you use magic eraser, I know it mentions to dampen when using, be sure the components/pins are completely dry....I never advise to put water, use caution and let dry before turning on.

You could have left the old fuse and just soldered the new fuse on the other side. Saving you headache
@christoffer652718 күн бұрын
This needs a proper calibrated fuse
@totalfix87716 күн бұрын
The fuse used was within the same specifications from the repair manual for Game Gears. 1 Amp 250v thermal fuse with a rated temperature of 100 deg Celsius. Pin length of 39.5mm and fuse length of 6mm.
@christoffer652716 күн бұрын
@@totalfix877 just to make sure youre in on the joke. this is suposed to be a fun reference to another electronic repair youtuber who would have soldered a wire between the pads and called it a 'proper calibrated fuse'

Normally I resolder those joints if they look old or dirty applying a bit of flux and fresh solder.

Mine was reading 190 ohms and I did a recap using a console 5 and it wouldn't read discs until I got it down to 112 ohms. I triedit again a few days later and it wouldn't read the discs until I cleaned the lens with ipa. I"m not sure if the laser is just super dirty. if it stays consistent I may adjust the resistance up to avoid burning the laser out

It definitely is, but it would require inspection of the components and testing to see if anything is faulty.

@totalfix8772 ай бұрын
I am not too familiar with the highpeedo V5 IPS Screen. In regards to the restart, Im curious if the capacitors are holding the proper charge or if theyre just old. This is a common issue I see with older GBA models and I replace them...however, I am not saying this is the case for your system.

Fired up my old gamecube after some years and played wind waker. Game works flawlessly, but i recently just bought a copy of Mario Sunshine and it gave me that error on the first launch of the game. The disc is very clean with verrryy light scratches. After that i cleaned the lens, fired it back up and this time it got to the intro but then black screen. Third time i got passed the beginning of the game, then a few cutscenes later another black screen. Tried wind waker again and it still works.

This video is great. It did help me get my game boy Advance working again! But you'll get a kick out of this.. mine was not terribly corroded, and I was frustrated that it worked fine when I put it in a safe place and it sat for several years (i used to collect gameboys). Well after watching the video I decided to just try the caveman thing and switch the power on and off rapidly back and forth 100 times to see if that loosened something up and sure enough it works fine now and it's getting better every time I turn it on 😂 I can take them apart completely and clean them (this one was cleaned before storage. I clean all my systems with alcohol carefully) but.. I don't have a soldering iron sadly.

It is very difficult to diagnose it without looking at the system unfortunately. Normally I do visual inspection, look for cold solder joints, swollen/leaking capacitors or corrosion.
@Birtheater45453 ай бұрын
Thank you for this it was very in depth! It seems I just have to adjust my GameCube’s potentiometer a little bit. If it goes below 120 ohms I’ll just replace it. Like you said it could damage disks and these days you cannot afford to do that, literally. A new disk drive assembly with the lid flaps is cheaper than a copy of Smash Melee these days.

It really depends...it is hard to say without inspecting the board. Generally you may have cold solder joints, but its difficult to say without a microscope. However, the alternate easy way is to do a "nudge" test against the IC joints. Hope this helps!
