Troubleshooting: No Video

Here are the steps I go through to figure out why I'm not getting video.
One more thing to check is if you are using a OSD, in the settings pick the same format that your camera uses (NTSC or PAL). Otherwise thats another cause for no video.
-Side note, the fuzzy video at the end was caused by a bad antenna. Everything turned out to be fine.

Project Blue Falcon alright let's say for instance that I have no idea what my working camera and VTX are using. So in a case like that how would I know? I know these two work together but I don't know which one either of them are. and from what I've heard from you before the ones that say that they're ntsc and pal switchable, or whatever, are sometimes not switchable at all.

I am sorry, I was generally replying to troubleshooting a NTSC, PAL mix up. If those two get mixed up, video is not just Black.

It gave me an idea. Although it was correctly soldered to the board there was tiny tiny spillage of solder which was causing short circuit and there was not enough power for camera. Thanks man.

I had the same problem with a brand new Runcam a couple of days ago, the screen is black, but I can see the camera's osd... it says 'Runcam' and it shows the timer and the camera voltage... but no image... I sent the info to Runcam and they are sending me a new inner board...

I have the same issue but start after a crash last weekend..... I switch the Camera still not working than the transmiter but still not working ... I see a black Image with very tinny light spot ... When I go to Camera menu I can see with no probleme the menu but no Image .... Only thing i have more is L-C Power Filter-1.7A to power up transmiter and camera ... I will remove it to see ... Do you have some other sugestions ?

I have a similar problem. I get the video signal extremely clear about 2-5 feet. I walk away a little bit and the video signal goes hay wire. Can you please help me.

I'm having problems with my tinygo. I get the OSD in my goggles, I've replaced the VTX and got a new camera, but when I plug in the camera I get no connection at all. No lights or sounds or even controller connection and cannot even get the black screen with the OSD. When the new camera is plugged in I can't even connect to Betaflight but all my wires are correct. Is this a flight controller problem?

Yes, you're so right: I unfortunately sinned against the god of mini-quads when not ordering spare arms when they were available for few bucks. Fortunately your repair videos inspired me to order a cheap part of carbon which I was able to mill (correct translation to english?) my spare arm with my cheap proxxon drill and a 3mm mill out of it. - Otherwise I would have been lost because the spare arms seem to be still not available worldwide. Never sinn against the god of the mini-quads ;-) - Always buy the spare parts while they are available.

even with no osd if you have most times if you have grey picture the cam is broken if the vtx is sending signal it would be white noise

I did the same thing with mixing up power and video but on the BF F3, not in the cam. Luckily everything seemed to be ok after.

+ Project Blue Falcon I've got a Tyrant S 215 and can't get the FPV system working.Here's the list. - Diatone SP2 V2 VTX - Replaced with same - Some Crappy Diatone FPV cam - Replaced with Runcam Swift Mini - Channels are all the same on VTX and Attitude V3s - Tested with other quads and the image comes through fine. - Tested continuity and seems like power is running through PDB to Cam and VTX without issue - It's not a black screen so cam should be fine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>JUST STATIC

I'm running the Omnibus as well, the standard F3 version. My OSD was working fine when running BF 3.1.6, but after flashing to 3.1.7, it stopped working. Still getting video tho. Any idea what the problem is? Would my OSD chip go bad just from a simple upgrade of firmware?

Did you check in the betaflight configuration tab if after the upgrade the OSD option is still turned on? - If yes, try to uncheck it, save and reboot, then turn it on again, save and reboot and see if it may work again. Maybe this helps? I also have the F3 omnibus and flashing to 3.1.7 did nothing to the board and I can't imagine how that could technically happen.

I just soldered the power and gnd wires of the camera on the pdb instead of the fc. It fixed it

Hi Jc. I'm going insane. Iv got a betaflight f3 and tbs unify. I can see osd in goggles but no camera. Just black screen. Iv put a vid on my channel with as much info as I can. Please can u take a look. And help me pleeeaaase. Ps camera is on auto on betaflight osd menu. Iv tried both

Please check cables first with multimeter. Following your advice would in a worst case scenario destroy two cameras.... More importantly: I'd like to add that many cameras that accept 5V and up do not work if voltage is just below 5V. Typically a 5V BEC drops to 4,8V when it powers several devices and for many cameras (like HS1177) it is not enough. The result is exactly the same as in this troubleshoot: OSD with black video.

Example: Matek PDB 5V out ---> HS1177 and TBS Unify PRO. This will not work because of voltage sag. Unify works fine but camera will not start because voltage is at 4,8V
