Rosie these are known for the safety low oil switch going bad on these as it's reading low oil all the time, sure by pushing the start button will override it till you pull your finger away I wouldn't even both with him because he is not listening to what you have to say

If I am hearing this right that its running while holding switch may be electrical . Nice onan though. Man the new sign wave generators are off the charts and really cheap comparative around $600 for 5000 watts with electric start. At first I thought electric fuel pump but the fact it stays running may rule that out, but I have replaced several 12v generator fuel pumps.

It is the control board. The switch is defective. I had the same problem.

Check the oil level, there is a kill float in the sump.

Not much of a Professional huh? It is either slip rings, met likey the board or oil sensor. Most likey the $40000 board! They blow quite often!

Onan must give these generators away to the rv industry. They make their real money selling parts and boy, one needs a lot of parts for these pieces of junk.

I have told you the problem. You have to replace the control board. The switch is bad and may be replaced, but not easily it is soldered into the circuit board.

I have the same Onan 2.8 KW in my 2005 Roadtrek 210 Popular. I have my generator out. Fixing a fuel leak and replacing the fuel pump, fuel filter spark plugs, fuel line.

Rosie Shawn T is correct. One of the double momentary switches is bad. They are connected, that's how he can start it outside and stop it from the inside
