That year has been so overhyped due to a stupid comment from Gallen. Not one of my mates from NSW said it was going to be a guaranteed win. If you tally up the amount of premierships from both origin sides, QLD actually had a higher tally. They put so much pressure on Cleary, who was a 23 year old halfback, who had never won a comp, against Cherry-Evan’s and Munster. There is nothing wrong with having faith in your state before a series, I know most of QLD were shocked when NSW won the 2014 series because there was no way Josh Reynolds and Trent Hodkinson could compete with Cronk and Thurston. I remember a lot of the Queensland media thought the 2021 series was in the bag.

I love how, according to Gus, one win means qld just turned it up completely. 1) it takes credit from nsw for playing dominant football, and 2) it denies the impact of multiple penalties and six-agains in qld’s half.
