I probably watch to many movies, but walking through a corn field usually ends badly. I'm really happy it turned out well for you. 😏

I swap out the treble hooks on my Rapalas for inline single hooks and pinch down the barbs. Trout don't usually do well with a face full of treble hooks.
4 ай бұрын
Even in a pinch debarbed trebles are good. Finnese Fishing website is about spin/baticasting for trout and mentions that as long as there is no barb, mortality rates are similar between fly and gear fishing. Trebles are actually better for larger fish since it keeps them from inhaling the lure, while singles are better for smaller fish.

In my experience, certain rivers and streams fish better with full sun while others do better with clouds as you mentioned. Great video! I love using the brown trout rapala and have had success even using the longer minnows.

Great video Fish Hawk! Wow, trout and smallies in the same creek, that is like heaven man! Here in NoVA I have yet to see a trout, they are all gone within days once stocked in creeks out near skyline drive area, wild trout don't exist really within 2 hours of me, except maybe micro brook trout which I don't find much fun. I basically gave up on them and will have to drive down near Roanoke and further to find any eventually. Barely had any smallies this year and only really small ones like under 1lb so far. Last year I did so much better....

more than likely he was fishinng a barbless creek.. also treble hooks are not very easy too remove when they get all 3 hooks !!
@FishHawk2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been doing it for a while. More consistently lately. I lose more fish but it’s way easier to remove them from the fish’s mouth. I suggest doing it for the fish’s health.

Love the videos and those big browns. Got a question you may or may not be able to answer. If the land along a stream is posted no trespassing, does that mean a person can't walk the stream to fish as long as they don't set foot on the property? Thanks. 👍
@porkshank132 жыл бұрын
Please make sure to research this further as it might be different depending on where you are located but I know here in NY where I fish the waterway and a certain amount of the shore (I don't know how much) is DEC land and is a public waterway. As long as you are not crossing private property to get to the creek, stream, etc., you are not trespassing, and can legally fish with the proper fishing license. However, be prepared for landowners and sometimes even police who do not understand the laws. Honestly, without knowing the laws I can understand why a landowner would think you are trespassing and unfortunately it can lead to confrontations. I find if I stay in the water and wade I have fewer issues because they usually recognize that they don't own the water.
@dannysmith42382 жыл бұрын
I'm in West Virginia and I'm not sure myself how the law reads here. Thought FishHawk might know. We had an incident on I think it was Gandy Creek 3 years ago when a landowner told my brother to leave and he was in the stream. Didn't see any posted signs until on the way out then we noticed them.
@dannysmith42382 жыл бұрын
But it wasn't posted where we went into the stream to start.
