I would make that my first priority honestly but where I work on these I have no water to wash them with.

It appears he is putting it back together without any paper gaskets.I picked up a XP with a cracked gas tank that turned out t o be missing the carb o-ring.I installed 3 paper gaskets with aftermarket carb .Runs for 5 seconds and quits

Who is he? No all the gaskets were there in the carburetor the stock ones weren't torn when I pulled the carburetor apart so they where reused no issues runs perfect.. as far as yours sounds it seems that the carburetor needs to be cleaned out The jet for these carburetors are actually in the screw that holds the bowl on

I have the exact same carb, removed it and cleaned it. Engine is still surging and it won't get to full power. Any suggestions?

Has it always done it or just the beginning of the season? Did you clean out all of the Jets and components?
