That bicycle shop is a good one. My son went to Rensselaer Poly down the road closer to Troy, and we went to that shop to buy a couple of bikes and to get some service done. If I pass by there again I will stop and buy something to support them.

That’s really nice of you. Supporting bike shops is so important especially when they are away from big cities. I try to stop at as many bike shops as possible and always buy something. Thanks for watching.

Diego thank you so very much for your videos, I want a touring bike . I am 76 years old hope I am not too late for this kind of stuff.

If you are thinking it, it must not be too late. There are many ways you can enjoy bike touring so its only a matter of figuring out which way you want to go about it. The first step is getting a bike that fits you well for it and has the right gears to be sure you enjoy the rides. You might already have it and only needs some racks and alterations. Next is deciding weather you want to camp or stay at hotels and other places. Lastly is cycling enough to get acquainted with your bike and saddle. After that I always recommend a three day loop from your house. That means you have to pick to places to spend the night. Distance is irrelevant. I’d say 20 to no more than 40 miles. This will give you the sense of it. Once you feel it out this way you can travel with your bike easily to any rail trail in our nation that has flat ground, no traffic for the most part, and amazing scenery. There are plenty that are 120 miles long like the George Michelson Trail in South Dakota’s Black Hills or the Silver Comet Trail in GA and AL. Longer Trails would be The C&O, GAP, and Katy Trails. Please let me know if you need help getting going. Thank you for watching.

Another terrific video Diego. Wonderful countryside and bears as well - so glad he got a across okay. I like the way you promote local services. KZbinrs review cycling, camping and hiking gear all the time but only occasionally mention local services. The motel and the bike shop will be grateful for the publicity and it lets other cycle tourists know of reliable local services on route. Life can be hard and we should help good folk when we can. Keep cycling - every turn of the pedals is a revolution.

Im pedaling away, John. So fun. Im also looking to promote the local businesses. It's so important for our economy. I try to spend my money where its most needed to promote the diversity of mom and pop establishments. Quality is always better too. It's a win win. Thanks for reaching out

Totally fun. I own a vacation home in Jamaica VT for 40 years and live full time in NJ. I know that road so well that it feels like home. In all those years I have seen only one black bear so congratulations. Haha. Great vid. Thanks. You were smart to switch bike on maps through. Very, very congested and fugly.

I've slept at that Harwood Hill Motel before on my travels from NY to NH. Bennington is a great town to stop in.

Hey Scott. I really enjoyed both the town and the motel. Plus Vermont is very special too. Thanks for checking out the channel. Hope you stick around.

Oh my goodness, it looks so much more dangerous on video than actually being on a bike. Though I find myself giddy going down some of the hills you went down. I could almost feel your sigh of relief getting on the Canalway Trail after being in traffic. The smile on your face says it all!!! It looks like you kinda like being out there!!!!! I am enjoying these SO much, Diego. Only thing better than watching...to actually be on my bike instead. Peace. Stay safe.

Clearly you get it. It's so fun to go zipping around on two wheels. Add beautiful scenery and its a total "winner". I do like being out there. I've been out there my whole life. I make a living outdoors and when Im not making a living I go right back out there :) Thanks for watching and enjoying the episodes

Really enjoyed your video (Traveling Thru videos too!). I also watched your great videos for your first ride across the country. If you are back this way I highly recommend the ride south on the Empire State Trail from Green Island to NYC. Lots of new trails, lots of history and lots to see in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Be happy to show you around Albany.

Hi Ed. Im definitely planning on ridding the other sections of the Empire State Trail so I will be all about riding with you and learning about your neck of the woods. Thank you. Traveling Thru is a great channel. I watch it too. Happy New Year. All the best

Here they are, the two channels that have been making me obsessed with doing a big bike tour in the US. Thank you both. I'm from Portugal, let's see if they require vax passports to travel. If not, maybe next year I'll do it.

Traveling Thru, thanks man. I checked out your channel and started watching your episodes. They are solid. I liked the one where you are screaming down a mountain in CO covered in snow. How fun. The Empire State Trail is legit. Great camping all around and the scenery is great. Be safe out there yourself. Lets keep at it REPLY

Hi Danny. These two comments from the Utica and Troy episodes are likely the best ever. I never did any of this editing or filming before starting my channel so it has been a process (and still is) trying to figure out what I want to have my content be. You are right about the music on the background being annoying. If you noticed, the first bunch of episode from season 2 didn't have much of it but someone said to me that they like the music so I started adding it more and so it went like that to the end of the season. My feeling has always been to not have annoying music in the background and instead bring the ambient sounds in so the viewer can feel the most honest experience of what it entails to be out there. Once you get to season 3 you will see that I take this approach and do very little music and only when it actually makes sense to have it. A lot of my editing time is managing ambient sound, lots of work but worth it. The other comment you made is about the touring not being about the end. I always tell people that the two toughest days in touring are the first and the last. Truth is, it's all about the middle. The first day has you with jitters about commencing the new routine and the last day has lots of nostalgia for knowing it's coming to an end.

I've been working my way through all your videos. I'm addicted! :) So far, have done only 5 weekend bike tours, nothing big yet. I'm planning on doing a few more short ones, because I have a new touring bike and need to test it out. I have been wondering which handlebar mirror you're using, if you don't mind sharing that info. I have a wrist mirror and a helmet mirror, and I don't like either one. Can't see anything--I can hear the cars before I see them in the mirror!

Brand: YOUNDERM 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 54 Reviews 7 by 8 inch Motorcycle Handlebar End Rearview Mirror for Sports Cruiser Honda Kawasaki Suzuki Yamaha Hi Elizabeth. Above is the mirror I use. Bought it from Amazon. It took a little customizing but I love it. It has a concave shape so you see a long ways back. Im always looking back. I find it essential to do it at all times and eventually you know the key moments to do so. I know it says its for motorcycles but it will fit on to bar ends. Im not sure what type you have but it’s worth a try or at least some other model that has that size and the metal insert with a stainless hex bolt like you see in the pictures. Very sturdy. I think its cool you are trying out your bike on short tours to be sure its all going great. Best tip I can give you is to just take off and do however long and type of tour you want to do. You end up being resourceful out there when the time comes and people seem to be always around to give a helping hand. I would practice fixing a flat and bringing a spare tube. But if you fill your tubes with tire sealant (6oz) you will avoid most tire issues and maintain tire pressure more easily. Thank you for saying nice things about my content. You made my day when I read it. Please be safe out there.
