The Megaproject starts from M-102/8 Mile Road to M-24 (a. k. a, Lapper Road), not I-696.

Yes the project starts from 8 Mile and ends just north of the Square Lake interchange (south of M-59). The rehabilitation projects north of the Square Lake interchange are covered by MDOT's Oakland TSC and not part of the mega project.

I moved away from Michigan when that was going on still. February of 2020 it was.

the mega project is pretty cool. How did you get the footage on the closed lanes? I drove through there last May, it was the evening but I was surprised and how smoothly I-75 operated with only two lanes per direction -- when I've driven it before it has always been so busy. It will be great once the widening work is done. This seems like Michigan's biggest widening project to have happened in a while.

Thanks for the comment! I got the footage by interning at a company which had the 75 job this past summer. I agree with the busyness of 75 during its peak hours, especially near 14 Mile, but it was probably due to all the closed entrance ramps during the construction season which severely limited traffic access to the freeway. I'm super excited to see this new HOV lane and yeah the only other recent widening project I can think of is the US-23 Flex Route (if that even counts as a widening project?). I-94 is the other megaproject happening in the Detroit area, but it seems to be happening at a much slower pace than 75. With the Gordie Howe, 75, and 94 projects all happening these are exciting times for the Detroit area!
