My high school band was class double A number 1 for that state of Michigan and we played this song. They play this really well, and this is a difficult piece of music and as I said I know from experience.

My school band is doing this one. The only thing I think is that the flute fingers for the 16th notes: D, F sharp and A are awkward to play. But I like this one.

Don't agree about the tempo. When I was a kid my family had a recording (black plastic - 78 rpm) of this and the tempo was about the same as this version. As the composer must have been still alive when the record was made I don't think they would have changed it that much. If you were using it as parade music you would have to do 120 because they would want to march that fast, but I think it was intended as a concert piece. The old recording had a lot of rubato.
