Another great repair, those helicoil are very handy. Can really save the day. 😊

I use that M6 kit often enough that I've had to get more inserts for it. Went through all the ones that came with it. LOTS of M6 bolts on motorcycles...

A ratcheting tap wrench! I’ve never heard of those and I’ve been using taps and dies for decades! I can definitely see a use for that in some circumstances and you used it for two applications. 🔧👍

Yep, its a great tool to have. I use it all the time

That ratcheting tap wrench is pretty slick!

It's MUCH better than the old standard type tap wrench for sure

Really interesting, you mainly think of that happening with a rider mower. I think that helps with ethanol is keeping a really good new gas cap. Non-ethanol and running the carburetor dry is your best bet. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for watching Steve

Non-Ethanol is almost impossible to find anymore, unless you have a connection you want to share? Great videos…….
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
At the time of recording, I could get non-ethanol at Shell or Canadian Tire here in Canada. That has since changed, no longer available at those places for me...

Nice video, great fix. You mentioned a problem with the automatic choke possibly blocked with silicone. What was the fix? Thanks !
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
I saw the silicone, and wondered why. But it wasn't an issue at all. Thanks for watching!

What happened to the break off tang of that Helicoil. Does it automatically come away inside the insertion tool? I have yet to do that repair or get tools to do it. Would it be appropriate to insert it using a gel threadlocker for extra insurance?
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
You can run a TINY bit of Loctite on there, but I usually don't because I don't want it to interfere with the bolt threads. The tang can be broken off with a punch and removed, but I usually try to set it up so the bolt threads don't go deep enough into the repair to hit the tang. I just leave it intact and on the insert.

Don, I would have automatically replaced that failed petcock.
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
Yep, those particular ones were not the easiest to find in quality aftermarket, especially when that machine was new. Once I did find one, it was $30. They bolt on to the machine, not like the universal ones. I don't stock them, or I would have replaced it.
@Rein_Ciarfella Жыл бұрын
@@randomwrenching In that case I would have just thrown on a universal for no charge. Hardly any time or cost. Not having a way to shut off fuel *before* the carb would be much worse in my mind.

@@Rein_Ciarfella Thousands of mowers out there that don't have, and have never had a fuel shut off valve...
