+Taylor Reid Still can´t find the right words for how I feel about this all. About Troye´s music, his voice, Blue Neighbourhood... Let me say this makes me feel happy. I love the story. You´re right, Taylor Reid, sometimes everything just ends. Life is not always fair. Our lives are not only about us but also about people around, those we love and need. We want them to love us too. But it doesn´t always work. And we have to learn to handle this. We should be who we really are - we can offer everything we are and let others to decide whether they want to love us or not. The rest is up to them. Let´s learn how to live with failure like this when (or if) it happens. To be refused and denied doesn´t mean the end of our world, thou it hurts. There´s always someone who loves us and wants to cherish us. And we should never give up.

+martinasimon what you have written here is absolutely spot on. I have been in a relationship where me and my girlfriend were together for 9 years and after being together for that long and then one day receiving an invitation in the mail to attend the wedding of who is supposed to be the girl you're in love with, is painful beyond words. But like you said being refused and denied doesn't mean it's the end life goes on and things can only get better and you will find love once again. I believe that everybody has their happily ever after out there.

Same here, I was 17 when this released, now 26 and relistening to blue neighbourhoods because I fear aging and want to relive my youth and remembering how incredible blue neighbourhoods is, I can see myself listening to this album well into my final years at retirement.

Blue neighborhood was my trilogy during my late teen infant twenty (?) year, I only put a label to myself now that I am thirty (told one of my friends and it feels freeing... I think) but this song always hold something within me. I remember going out on a trip with my friend to visit our other friend's province that time (had a crush on him). We sleep on the same room different bed and I remember encouraging him talk to his girl crush. Those were the times, I mean, I didn't expect anything from him, just that, I know that he is important to me, told him about my feelings at the start of our last year in uni. He was accepting, and I specifically told him that I don't want anything in return, just that, I want to let him know that he is important to me, and that I am looking out for him. he said thanks, which is more than I hope for. Thankfully, we are still friends until now and I am still in their lives.

Does anyone think the true is that Troye died. Because, when Troye showed up at the funeral, none could see him, even his lover. Troye and others in the funeral left the diferrent directions, he came to another tomb (I think it coube be his own tomb). And when Matt's girlfriend saw him hugging Troye, she immediately pulled him out of that place and her face was shocked. Maybe what she saw is Matt is hugging NOTHING? Both Dad and Lover are gone, Matt is alone but he isn't able to be himself, loves the girl he doesn't love at all. That is the very reason why he can't live anymore. Maybe that's the way he could be with Troye forever.

I really like it too. But the lyrics to this particular song kind of confuse me when you parse it next to the video. Part of the lyrics sounds like it would be coming from his ex: come talk me down and can't trust my shadow at 3 AM (suicidality, fear); would rather fuel a fantasy than deal with "this" (his father's passing) alone. Then others seem like it might be coming from either of them: expectations (either of sex or defining the relationship), drawing the line when it gets too real (closet guy afraid to get too close, Troy afraid to get burned); I wanna sleep next to you but that's *all* I want to do (depressed closet guy might sleep a lot and have low sex drive, conversely Troy could feel used and like there's expectations of sex when he just wants to comfort him). The video would suggest that Troy was willing to be there but the other dude was too worried about keeping up appearances, but also the opposite because the title is "Talk me Down" and the other guy obviously committed suicide and thus was not talked down.

I swear I have not cried this hard in years. I never even shed a tear with most movies, no matter how sad they may be. But THIS EVIL TRILOGY! I sobbed from the beginning till the end. It’s so powerful and symbolic however, with a beautiful meaning behind it that is very rarely portrayed in pop culture. The “forbidden gay love” topic is in that is rarely covered in things like this, and I have to say this is one of the very best gay anything’s I’ve ever seen. Thank you Troye, we gays are forever in your debt🙏🏻
@DistinctOptimism6 жыл бұрын
I don't think the song is complicated as people make it out to be. It's interesting to believe Troye is the one that died, but because of the flashbacks during the funeral. It's safe to say it's the fathers funeral. Troye attends out of respect, but leaves midway, because he can't cope with the idea of Matts gf being the one to comfort him. It should be him not the girl. Matt sits there remembering all the good times he has with his father as any normal person would do, but as he's leaving he finds Troye and realizes he's now "free" from his dads enforcement. He practically melts into Troyes arms, but they're interrupted by Matts gf. She looks confused or upset, because before she left she was trying to comfort Matt, but he clearly wanted to be alone, but to see him being vulnerable with Troye it puts up the question of who does he actually love? (The obvious answer is Troye) You can see them bickering, and Matt looking back at Troye as they leave, and Matt is also having flashback of his dads aggressiveness at the same time. Considering the way Matt was mourning for his father. He loves and respects him, so out of that respect he stopped associating himself with Troye. I think it's safe to say as he was leaving he was remembering why he left Troye to begin with, and how its a betrayal to his father to be near him. At the end you see him at a cliff where he clearly takes his own life, because having to choose between his fathers "wish" and being with Troye. He can't choose, so he jumps.

Makes sense but I like to think that him jumping off was a metaphor of how he feels having to leave Troye for the girl. It just can't be right that he would commit suicide. It can't be that literal...
@pamelam11016 жыл бұрын
Cristian Togin Ray honestly I think you’re pretty right except for the last part. He jumps but it’s not because he can’t choose. As you see, he’s not with his girlfriend then, meaning he left her to be alone. And yes I think you were right about the dad abusing him. But I think it was representation of him truly accepting himself and letting himself be freed from his father as you said. Like it shows memories, if you will, from his childhood, and shows him and Troye together, and at that last scene, it shows him and troye at the pool. And he’s scared to jump, but troye helps him, and maybe ‘talks him down’ as in talks him out of being afraid. Like convincing him, that it’s gonna he all right. And him jumping when he’s older could be him accepting himself and everything that his dad did to him and life in general really. And he’s letting himself be free and maybe be with troye and accept that that’s who he is. So maybe the memories of them jumping at the same time as him jumping off the cliff symbolizes that he’s gotten over his fears (in this case of his dad and his abuse) and is able to be free (as I repeated a million times lmao). Maybe being with Troye at the end, as accepting himself and the past allowed it. I don’t know, maybe I’m just a sucker for happy endings. I don’t like sad ones but eh. Also that’s just my interpretation I guess you never really know unless Troye explained what he meant for it to mean. But I guess it’s meaning is different to everyone else too, so. But ya I suck at explaining things sorry😂

honestly this is the saddest trilogy, the wife/girlfriend handles the guy so roughly like his dad did and its so upsetting because he basically moves from one abusive person to another. i loved the reunion hug between troye and his "ex" because its so heartfelt and genuine. i really wish this ended happily for them, but sometimes in life there aren't happy endings. (wait what if there was a 4/3 with the song heaven or something)

Isn't it crazy though that things like that actually happen, people who are abused by people they look up to seem to find another abusive person after they lose the other. It's like they gravitate towards that.

Back here after seeing Troye Sivan live for the first time last night during the Sweat tour...even though he did not perform any of the Blue Neighbourhood songs, it was incredible to see him live after being a fan for so many years! I will never stop loving the cinematic masterpiece that makes up these three music videos.

@EllaSchindler did you have a great time at the Sweat tour what songs did he sing. I wanted to see him live but tickets were too expensive. I love Troye so much. Blue Neighbourhood is my favorite album by him
@EllaSchindler3 ай бұрын
@@lauracorbett4577 It was an amazing concert -- him and Charli XCX did a great job switching off and working together throughout the show. He sang a lot of songs, but mostly the ones from his new album! The only older songs that he sang were My, My, My and Bloom. I was hoping for a Blue Neighbourhood song, but unfortunately he didn't perform those ones. It was still a lot of fun anyway, though!
@nesslam48328 жыл бұрын
I GET IT I GET IT The blue neighbourhood could mean the actual neighbourhood he's living in is blue (sad), or the state of mind where "everything is sad", and in WILD, 'leave this blue neighbourhood' means he's fleeing from the reality where it is sad, and living in a place where he can fall in love and go "wild", even when he knew it's not safe, leading him to say 'it's been too long since im a fool', which means he's so euphoric that he doesn't care, or think of the consequences, leading to FOOLS, where al the realizations shit happens and BAMMZ. He realized 'only fools fall', and he was a fool. Now, laced with regret, he wanted to change the past, but the past changed him, as the father and son shooed him away, When he saw the boy with the girl, the regret transformed to jealously, and the fool became the girl, because Troye knew he was the only one who would love the boy as much as he did, and he, too was a fool (for many things obviously. troye was a gigantic fool and this is messed up.). Then he did a commercial for the HP comp, which serves kinda like a teaser. TALK ME DOWN is also filled with regret, but the facts were clear he couldn't do all the things he wanted to do with him, but he couldn't because the boy was so different already, and his past was still haunting him, so he let him go. The boy escapes Tyoye's love, and it ends with the sea, because it is blue, everchanging, and endless, just like Troye's love for the boy. and of course there's obviously the storyline, and the song storyline but HEY.

Okay, here's how this ends: When the boy is just about to jump, he feels a gentle touch on his shoulder. He looks back and sees Troey's smiling face covered in tears. "Don't go yet", says Troye. "You don't understand", says the boy. "I... I can never..." Tears start streaming down his face. Troye holds him for the longest time. The sound of crashing waves fades away. Birds stop chirping. Wind stops whistling. The entire universe stops to watch that moment. "I love you", says Troye. Silence happens, as the boy's last tear falls on Troye's shoulder. "I love you too", he says. "Don't go yet", repeats Troye, while taking his hand.

The phrase "Talk Me Down" is an English term that means talking to someone to help them not jump off of a high place. So maybe Troye and the love interest jumped off the cliff in different respects. In "Wild" the two boys were playing to get her and they developed a bond with each other and as they grew up that bond grew into romanticism. During "Fools" the two boys are basically a couple but get broken up by the love interest's father who is a homophobe. When the father dies, Troye is hopeful that maybe he and the love interest can be together "I wanna sleep next to you. I wanna hold hands with you. I wanna be close to you" he wishes for all these things. When the love interest finds Troye and they see each other they hug because they are finally able to be who they are without the harsh judgement of the father. In this moment the love interest temporarily forgets about the girl. When the girl shows up, the love interest leaves Troye because he wants to be accepted but he knows that..
@AmandaAndrewsMusic9 жыл бұрын
He really loves Troye. When the love interest realizes that he won't be accepted for who he is, he jumps off the cliff and commits suicide. When we see Troye at the funeral, we are seeing Troye at his love interest's funeral. Troye ends up leaving half way through because it's too hard for him to notice that he no longer can sleep next to him or hold hands with him. In the end Troye says to "Talk Me Down" because his feelings are still up on that cliff where the boy jumped off of. When we see the two children jump off the dock we are seeing the love interest's death and the death of Troye's feelings and his heart.

best explanation ive seen so far

I'm just going to believe this now. Even if Troye himself says otherwise, this will be the truth to me. Thank you. You should become a writer. Your version of the story is beautiful.

Omg this makes so much sense. That's why when the focus was on the love interest there were flashbacks of him with his father and when the focus was on Troye there were flashbacks of him with the love interest, because they were both remembering the best moments they had with their beloved ones, who died.

May be he survived the jump and then he was admitted in the hospital.. the near death experience strengthened him and he realised that troye was the one for him.. he dumps the girl and him and troye live in a house with swimming pools and living rooms and their kids love aeroplane models and sometimes they have quiet nights poured over ice and dacurey..

I'm not the biggest fan of Troye Sivan's work, but from what I've heard of the rest of his music, Blue Neighborhood is arguably his best and most important work, from the music to the story these videos tell. I think it's a universal thing as gay men that we have this idealized fantasy of growing up with a best friend you can fall in love with, vs. the harsh realities of the world. Your friend denying his nature for the sake of appearances is just one example, and I love that the story of Blue Neighborhood as a whole is so heavily reliant on imagery. I hope he continues making this sort of stuff and realizes how important this collection was.

True, but it's also sad for the girl he has to marry. If she finds out that he doesn't love her and has been lying to her for all these years, her heart would be in pieces.

Lyrics~ I wanna sleep next to you But that's all I wanna do right now And I wanna come home to you But home is just a room full of my safest sounds 'Cause you know that I can't trust myself with my 3:00 a.m. shadow I'd rather fuel a fantasy then deal with this alone I wanna sleep next to you But that's all I wanna do right now So come over now And talk me down I wanna hold hands with you But that's all I wanna do right now And I wanna get close to you 'Cause your hands and lips still know their way around, ooh And I know I like to draw that line when it starts to get too real But the less time that I spend with you, the less you need to heal I wanna sleep next to you But that's all I wanna do right now So come over now and talk me down So if you don't mind, I'll walk that line Stuck on the bridge between us Gray areas and expectations But I'm not the one if we're honest, yeah But I wanna sleep next to you And I wanna come home to you I wanna hold hands with you I wanna be close to you But I wanna sleep next to you And that's all I wanna do right now And I wanna come home to you But home is just a room full of my safest sounds So come over now And talk me down..
