I just wanna say your videos are the BEST educational videos for thin wall printing ever ! They actually go through every setting and show results and you get a great understanding of what setting causes what problem, and for newbies like me to printing that's just invaluable knowledge. And you share every setting unlike some other jokers that pretend to help you but really have other vested interests, you are completely HONEST and that gets you the best rating. Everything I've tested has done precisely what you showed it would. I use two crappy Ender printers, ender 5 and a 5 plus..... The 5 is god but the plus is a fiddly pain in the butt........ My prints improved about 700% after copying your settings and advice. So I THANK YOU , for being one of the few people on utube to be completely honest about every single little issue they have. You really are an awesome person to share such knowledge. Thank you mate from down under. QLD Australia.

Excellent from start to finish. There’s a story, you flew the CRJ-900, designed the model, printed it in a very practical way and then flew it. I’ve always loved the ramp appeal of a CRJ, the tailplane anhedral to the ‘mean’ nose down attitude on the ground. Love it.

Lol I have been trying to do the same for awhile now, it is very difficult, and frustrating, I would start very small and slowly work your way up, my first project was a motorised glider that didn’t work very well, then I went to full 3d printed, which was a bad idea, anyway Start low, and go slow Good luck!
@TroyMcMillan Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with there being lots of frustration along the way, ShadowCake. I feel like depending on which plane you do, that can make it even worse. Planes have come a long way over the years, you should give the 3D Printed Cub by 3DLabPrint a try. Truly easy to assemble and fly. And it’s free.

@TroyMcMillan Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 the wing is slightly oversized compared to scale, but not really enough to notice it by eye!
@EnglishTurbines Жыл бұрын
@@TroyMcMillan In the photo Id say the wing looks a bit small. It was common practice to make Tailplanes and wings larger than exact scale because at model sizes that's what's needed to make it fly at a more scale speed. It's also easier to fly them....Something to think about on your next one perhaps. A 30% increase in wing area would make a huge difference but it will still look scale....🤔😳😀😀🇬🇧

Hi Troy! Would you be able to make a video for how you did the CAD for the wing? I've tried several methods but haven't found one that doesn't feel like a ton of extra effort beyond what it should be. if you can convince yourself to cheat a little from the perfectly scale wing size and airfoil, you can definitely improve the flight performance by thickening the cord and increasing wing area, and also selecting airfoils better suited to model aircraft. With your wing saddle mount system, it would be REALLY cool to test a few different wing designs...

To make it a CRJ700 you need to remove forward and aft plugs and remove the ventral strakes
@adampoulsen5305 Жыл бұрын
Fitting, since adding plugs and strakes to the 7 was all bombardier did to make the 900. Nobody wonders with that level of innovation why they’re on their way out.
@sblack48 Жыл бұрын
@@adampoulsen5305 they were hardly the first company to stretch an airplane. Innovation doesn’t always mean success. Look at concord and the a380 - incredibly innovative and both failed spectacularly in the market place. The business case was there and for a $200 million investment they sold 487 of them making it one of the most successful programs in the company’s history. Airlines don’t care about innovation. They care about cost per seat mile, period.
@adampoulsen5305 Жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely right. But it seems that was their only trick. But yeah, reduce that pitch right?!
@sblack48 Жыл бұрын
@@adampoulsen5305 you have to remember that bombardier is a relatively small company. The weren’t building 60 aircraft a month or getting huge military contracts. They got some repayable loans from various levels of government but money was always short, debt was always high and in the end they were driven out of the commercial aircraft business because Boeing tried to destroy them with tariffs. But the crj900 made business sense and they made money with it, especially since it had a common crew rating with the 700. But like all stretches it compromised performance. It was low on thrust and was geometry limited for tailstrike which limited performance. I doubt it makes for a very good flying model either! We all thought it looked ridiculous and that they had stretched it too far. Then they did the crj1000! 🙄
@wtfmimshag Жыл бұрын
I need to get the nacelles printed but from the video it looks like there is a step between the nacelle and the fan inlet? This will be costing a fair bit of performance relative to a smooth inlet. That said I am considering 6S power system for my build as they are more efficient for the kind of flying this plane is intended for.
