Funny how this is about (ALL MY SETTINGS) then the first setting you say "layer height 2.5mm" when it's 0.25mm. Couldn't watch the rest.

How does the Vyper work with LW-PLA and the other types of filaments used for printing RC Planes? Looking at trying out 3D printing and getting a 1st printer. Is the print area large enough for most prints? Thanks.

I noticed with the LW grey colorfab that the shade per part varies , is this due to the thickness , as i notice this with the same roll ??

It's amazing how far 3d printed planes have come, this is a very similar size to my foam twin 50mm Seamaster, and seeing a 3d printed plane match the weight of foam is very impressive to me. Awesome work! I'm feeling inspired to design my own.

Thanks! I was doing it all wrong! I was having issues with Z-offset and leveling, and I now realize that I have to move the BED, and not the nozzle! I also have an Ender 3 V3 SE, and with that, you have to move the nozzle. It also has auto-leveling. Sure, an Ender 3 V2 is older, but it still functions, just differently! Thanks a LOT!

I like when you said "3D printing is not my hobby" ... I feel exactly the same way ... they are tools, I want them to work. I use Prusa and Formlabs printers. Every time someone says I "overpaid" I remind them that I NEVER have failed prints ... and my time is not free.

I have NOT tried this with lightweight PLA, but I imagine it would be the same as "regular" PLA . Instead of using CA, as I have found it be brittle on PLA, I use the same stuff the styrene plastic model folks use. Tamaya has 3 viscosities. I just use the thick and super thin. It chemically welds the joints so the 2 parts become one. In my limited testing, I found the print breaks before the joint.

Ok, print quality so far is ok for me. Some pinholes in some of the large flat edges probably something to do with priming, but it isn’t happening all over. The wings bases are lifting or shrinking though at the leading and trailing edges. They are adhered to the base when the print is finished, but when I butt the two wings together few minutes later, there are 2mm gaps at the leading and trailing edges.

I have 2 C-17 foam models that used 4-40 MM EDF units. I am currently replacing the fans/engines because the ones it came with are junk. I had one fan detonate on takeoff and 3 engines weren't enough to keep the plane flying. Since my C-17s are about the same size as yours I might try twin 50 MM edf units in it with empty outboard nacelles. I noticed that on your models, the landing gear sponsons are the same length (which makes sense aerodynamically) yet on my aircraft, the right sponson is longer than the left one. The reason the right sponson is longer is because the designers realized at the last minute that they hadn't placed the APU in the aircraft yet so the lengthened the right sponson while leaving the left one at the original design length. My C-17s are plug & play and a bit on the heavy side. Your aircraft look and fly amazing! Great job!
@TroyMcMillan
@TroyMcMillan 8 күн бұрын
Ya maybe try duel 50mm in your and try to shed some weight off. Nice catch on the sponson. Yes I decided to adjust this from scale so that they would work more as skies to takeoff and land on. It does fly great the main reason is just due to how light the plane is. Good luck with your C-17s. Cheers

@ thanks. I just got through reading the RCGroups thread about this plane. I have one question regarding the 15mm ring and the print setting. Someone mentioned that for the fuse sections you have to set the z offset much lower in order to cause the first layer to barely print/extrude anything. And then let it really start to print with the second layer. May I ask what is the reason behind this type of setup

Amazing. Do you offer selling any of your work. I’m interested
@TroyMcMillan
@TroyMcMillan 9 күн бұрын
Right now I mainly sell just the STL files. I have tried to sell some of my actual airplanes but they are to large to ship so shipping is always $500 to $1000 let alone the cost of the plane. So you can by a 3d printer and build it yourself for cheaper then it cost to ship the plane.

I just printed wing 1 and test fitting it to the fuselage leaves a gap because the wing tube alignment tabs (diamond shaped) hit the wing root. Is this the plan or do I need to trim out some of the wing tube guide holes on wing 1 for a flush mount?
@TroyMcMillan
@TroyMcMillan 9 күн бұрын
Yes that diamond shape needs to be cut out to fir the carbon fiber tub.
@rickwentworth6842
