Windows doesn't allow us to format large drives as FAT32 but this video will show you how to do this. I will also show you how to format a drive as FAT32 on Mac computers as well.
In this tutorial, I'm using the free Rufus application.

Excellent nobody else explained that only if the drive is 32gb windows 10/11 will let you format to fat32. I'm trying to update my car satnav, the dealer is useless

When I have problems like you mention, I use SD Card Formatter and that usually fixes it. www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/

If you're unable to find the FAT32 option directly, you can work around it by creating a partition of around 8 GB, or the desired size, and then right-clicking the drive in File Explorer. From there, select "Format" and opt for FAT32 as the file system. This method allows you to format the smaller partition as FAT32. how to create a partition Open Disk Management: Press Win + X on your keyboard. Choose "Disk Management" from the menu that appears. Locate the Drive: Disk Management displays a list of all connected drives. Right-click on the drive that you want to partition. Shrink the Volume: Select "Shrink Volume." Enter the amount of space you want for the new partition (in MB) and click "Shrink." A new unallocated space will be created. Create a New Partition: Right-click on the unallocated space. Choose "New Simple Volume." Follow the wizard to specify the size, assign a drive letter, and select formatting options. Select FAT32 File System: When prompted for the file system, choose "FAT32" from the dropdown menu. Complete the wizard to create and format the partition.

I am trying to reformat an exfat 256GB Kingston Flash drive to Fat32. Everything looked like it worked with the Rufus program and it did change the drive to FAT32, but the drive won't eject because it says a program is using it even though I know it isn't. I tried to install a 6.6 GB video on it anyway and I get the same "wont fit" message as before. Any ideas???

If you can’t format properly a micro sd card, use a Nokia 6220c to format to Fat 32. Then format again with an Android. Then copy large files to the card, and copy within the card more times using Windows. Fail will scandisk more times, then you fixed your faulty card, ready to use it for everything. Pendrive problem can be fixed by connecting to Samsung Otg, then power the phone to standby. Overheating will stop, and you can start formatting and use.

Exfat is the format and only ntfs option. No Fat32 on drop down. Usb is sandisk 128gb

I formatted it through Rufus no problem but it didn't work on onn box! Had 64gb one like in your video on onn box and it worked the 128 gb formatted at fat 32 didn't work wouldn't migrate data and couldn't download anything

That isn't true. You are talking about the restriction of writing to USB from Android. Has nothing to do with this tutorial.
