Excellent instructions, worked perfect on my Sony Bravia TV. When I enabled developer options i lost usb debugging so had to "enable ABD debugging and it accepted the host 5555. Also when removing user it deleted the hyphen as you said and had to retype. Thank you so much!

Hey! Thanks for your videos, they are great. I have the same “Could not migrate data to USB drive” in my Philips Google TV (not using Chromecast). I have a 64gb usb formatted as internal storage, but the only app I can move there is MAX (HBO). The rest won’t allow that option when I tap the app storage info. Cant use the “Migrate data to this storage” either, it always gives the “Could not migrate data to USB drive”. This method you explain would work in my case?

Works great. I wanted to kinda add to my storage for dvr on iptv apps.i have a 128g drive. I added a 256 g drive. i cant migrate data..I can add apps to it but cant find the drive to send recordings too. Do u think i should go back to adb shell. Type commands,then try migrate data to that drive..can i have 2 usb drives to all internal drive then.?Ty

It has to be pointed out that after an update of the Google TV launcher app, the same work profile user 10 is recreated. Thus to migrate from the USB Drive back to Internal Storage you have to repeat the same remove-user 10 command because otherwise you would be faced with the same 'Could not migrate...' error.

Thanks as always for keepin us" up to snuff" on all things streaming. You're my #1 go to ! TP, I've tried 4 different flash drives on both Onn 4K n Pro n they just won't recognize the drives. (lg fat32 format w/rufus)Could these adb commands possibly help ? Or are there others I could use ?

Thanks for following TROYPOINT! I had the same problem with mine and after I did a factory reset, it started recognizing drives again.

Does this only work if you have just a single account on the chromecast? I had 3, mine, my daughters managed account, and then a "new user 11" that I deleted. It still gave me the same error. I don't want to delete my kid's managed account though.

i have the same problem.. what i did: 1. Disconnect your vpn connection 2. enable usb debugging or adb debugging 3. make sure there is no space after you type localhost try again, and it should work

This works but then after a while for whatever reason my google tv is no longer recognizing the drive and so all the apps i had on it are gone. I tried restarting, unplugging, etc. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Make sure that you turn off USB Debugging once you are done doing this. That is usually the problem that only appears on a few devices but the one popular one is the $19 Onn 4K Google TV Streaming Box.

@@troypoint Thanks for your reply. I think I may have figured out my issue. As soon as I used a different wall adapter which I believe has higher wattage/amperage, the drive became recognized again. I guess I neglected the part on the Google support page where it says to use a charger with > 1.5 A. Update: Actually not sure anymore. I tried using a usb-c pd ethernet adapter and when the external storage wouldn't be read once again. It only worked again after I changed the socket the a/c adapter was plugged into.... not sure what's going on. I guess it's a hit or miss once you lose power for whatever reason.

How do you use your virtual mouse app without the " usb debugging" turned on?

Unfortunately it needs to be on for that. I hardly ever need to use that virtual mouse and when I do need it, I just go in and turn on USB debugging. Keep in mind that this isn't a problem for all Android TV/Google TV devices. I can keep it turned on with my Shield and no problems.

For me the problem was I had USB-debugging not enabled. Try this maybe. Worked for me then.

Try again. You may have mistyped one of the codes or missed a step in the process. I have done this on my Onn and it works but the disk ID was different so you need to use that instead of the one I use in this video.

Make sure you are inputting proper user id. It might not be 10 like in my video. Also, one wrong character in the code, it won't work.
