There seems to be 2 cables. Y-1286 and Y-1285. Is one for ext cab and the other single cab? 140” for extended cab?

Can you change the bottom half cable
@christianayala25492 жыл бұрын
For anyone only needing the bottom half replaced you can separate the two half’s after already connected old to new either way

Great video. I’ll add that getting the old on out from around the column is the hardest part. Save the hassle and cut it. Feeding the new one up and around is easy. Shouldn’t the adjustment be checked in 1st and neutral?

Might've been helpful to tell us that the SPRING was wrapped around the cable like a SNAKE and difficult to get out!!

Its hard to put my 2003 Cadillac escalade in park, i have to use alot of force for it to go into park you guys think its a stretched cable?
@Username-ng8jy2 жыл бұрын
Did you fix yours what was it? Park was there but I could feel lots tension. And when I would lose. The adjustment. It would have hard time into D.

This helped a lot for AllData is trash and I can only locate the rear half R&R and the adjustment procedure. Although im not sure how you got the front part out of that spring so easy. I may just cut it out and figure it out routing it back in. If I'm not mistaken, that spring is only for cable slop? So it's not just hanging? Could possibly just secure it another way? Or does that spring have an actual function aside from just securing it?

Perhaps you can tell me why You had to replace the cable in the 1st plquestion mark I just experienced an issue with the linkage on the sterewell just kind of dropped I'm curious if perhaps maybe it's thiscord or cable that either is broker came off underneath is that something that you would experience?
@thelmaballi61004 жыл бұрын
would the need for replacement possibly be because the truck will not shift or move at all?

GM and it's former CEO Bob Lutz should be ashamed! All of this work and expense for a failed 10¢ nylon bushing. No wonder Toyota kicked your ass for so long. Great video btw.

Any idea how many inches that cable is? I've got 03 workhorse p42 with a 6 5 diesel and 4l80e tranny. Workhorse wants $300 for an 82 inch shifter cable. Wondering if there is another option or diy. Searched the part number but couldn't find another option.
