FORD FUSION GUARDIAN ANGELS!! I've watched your videos on how to replace the side mirror and rear brakes, and it's saved me a LOT of money. So thank you! I did the regulator yesterday with the help of this video and it went flawlessly. Took me 2.5 hours. Just a couple tips for anyone doing this: I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL. The bolts! For some reason the bolts to replace the rivets on the regulator are a real mystery on these feeds. What worked for me was 1/4"-20 screws 1" long, but they definitely could've been shorter (3/4" length would be good). I ordered 1/4"-20 flange nuts off of Amazon to go with the bolts (if you can't find them at store near you). When everything's plugged in and installed and you're ready to drop the glass into the regulator brackets, MAKE SURE the window is in there. It's very easy for the window to pop behind one of the brackets. I plugged in window buttons to test the window before I put the door panel back on. Works perfect. Ford dealership quoted me at $260 (!!) for the regulator plus probably another $150 for labour. I bought the regulator AND new motor for $140 all in off PartsAvatar. Saved me hundreds. Thanks again!

Thank you for the video! -I recommend is re-clamping the window to the regulator clips before reinstalling the speaker for easier access. -on my dorman replacement from rockauto, I had to push the clips back a bit as I slid the window down in order for it to line up properly. I recommend a second person slide the window here while you keep an eye on the window glass making its way into the glass. -I drilled out the rivets holding the regulator to the panel fine with a normal power drill and used 1/4” bolts with some locknuts, dorman replacement didnt come with bolts so I had to purchase some this really was an easy DIY, not as bad as some comments make it seem, ive had more trouble drilling out brake rotors

This was a great help. I followed this exactly. A couple of issues I ran into. 1) The rivets you drill out are what holds the regulator in place, the new part may not have bolts built in and you may need to provide them. 2) Make sure you get the correct side! - Even though I told the parts company the driver side rear, he gave me the wrong side and the widow mounts were pointed the wrong way. 3) The third rivet you drill out ( I used 5/16 ) is for the motor and I put another bolt in that to help hold in place. While not necessary because you have 3 screws that mount the motor .. it seemed to help. 4) It may not be clear that you position the regulator to line up to the holes so that you can tighten them to hold the window. After everything was mounted and secured .. I put the switch in and tried the window! It worked but seemed like a good idea. Really well done . .thanks!

Before you screw the door panel on and door handle once you have you window regular opened up and the window tightened connect your regulator to your window controls and test it out before you put the panel on and bolt it up cause if you don’t have something right on loose connections you have to take that door panel off again. Nothing major and you will be faster the second time around but believe me if you do that mistake you will be pissed lol… good video had to this on my older impala now I’m here to see for the fusion. It’s cake I just need to make sure I have the torque sockets but other that pretty simple ppl don’t let it scare you it’s super easy. Great Video!

This video was extremely helpful to explain a job that would cost a lot for a shop to do. Thank You! One thing I learned is how much big rivets are a pain to remove. Don’t waste your time with a drill. Grind them off like the video shows. I messed around with a drill and finally had to get the grinder.

When I replaced the regulator on my back door, I just took it to Home Depot and just bought whatever sized fit the whole. Since it's going on the inside it didn't have to be an exact fit because the nuts hold it in place.

You dont replace the rivets. The rivets are factory to hold regulator in. The studs and nuts from new regulator are in place of the rivets.

ah, I figured it out for anyone watching.. my cables inside the little winding mechanism (inside the door skin/plate) were fried/torn. once you pull the motor off, that little mechanism inside the regulator will be able to rotate somewhat freely. you can just manually push the window down into place.

I'm prepping to replace the door wire harness on my 2009 Fusion. Haynes manual says to loosen but not remove the window clamp bolts then tape up the window. The very next step says to lower the regulator all the way down before removing all the regulator asmy bolts and then remove the assembly. This doesn't make sense because won't the glass still be attached to the regulator if the glass bolts are loosened but not removed?
