Tom, you really go the extra mile with these print outs and reviews. That's a nice radio. I would use rechargeable AA's with the BL-5C. If it's a battery eater, that's what I would do.

I went out just after sunset here in central Virginia and the ATS scan got 40 good stations with just the whip antenna, including CFRX in Toronto and and a very good signal on Radio China. My objection to the ATS scan is that it covers the entire SW band, making it take like 11 minutes to complete, and as you said, it fills up the 100 memory slots.

If someone were to get this radio, should buy a couple extra batteries, and a dedicated charger. [ they are available, and not too expensive]. Interesting radio. 📻🙂

@@hamrad88 maybe one day I can pack mine up and send you to play with for a while. With the low production number I was lucky to find one at our local ham swap. Paid a bit but it’s an amazing rig. Paired against my PL660 it’s amazing what it can pull in on its built in antenna that my 660 needs my MLA30 to pull in.

Time conditions have been awful I know what you're talking about 1 minute there's a bunch of stuff the next minute there's nothing some of the reviews I've made I couldn't receive any short wave channels recently so it's not just you
