I just bought this for my daughter in law. She’s an actual artist and wanted to expand you skill set. She’s coming into town in a few days to stay a while and I wanted to surprise her. I didn’t have much time so I depended on reviews. I’m now able to do a deeper dive and your review makes me feel that I got her a quality piece of equipment and that I didn’t get ripped off in the process. By the way. Your videos are very easy to watch. Calm and measured delivery without a bunch of crazy antics to appear ultra cool. Your approach makes you appear authentic and honest.

I have this unit and love it. I'm still relatively new to pyrography and am learning constantly. One thing I found regarding cleaning the tips is to use a bit of metal polish (Flitz is what I use) on the back side of a piece of leather to clean and polish them. I've actually made a few tips from nichrome wire that I use now n again, and that's a part of making them ready for use. Love your videos.

You should really add gradient shading at different temperatures. Many of these burners concentrate in just supplying super hot temps, but they dont regulate the heat well at medium and low temperatures. It's important to know how easy or difficult it is to get nice even gradient shading. Thank you for your reviews

Thank you for this really informative video! I have always been open to trying different craft ideas, but Covid has inspired me to do something I wouldn’t typically do. I always thought this was more for artists with that enviable ability to draw, but have discovered that is not necessarily the case. With all the different wood burning products out there, it’s tough to know what’s going to cause the least amount of frustration - especially for us beginners. This was so helpful!

Thanks for the great review on the TRUart Wood Burning Kit... I watched your other fine review on the "Colwood Super Pro II Wood burning KIt" which i also watched previously. I have 2 questions: 1) Which kit do you prefer if you had to pick only one for your work? -- 2) Which is the BEST Wood burning kit out there in your opinion?... Thank you for your videos and best wishes.
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay. This is a tough question to answer because it really comes down to personal preference. I don't think there's a BEST kit. There are certain features that will appeal to you and not others. Here's my preferences. I like the Colwood a little more because it's the burner I learned with, so I have more comfort with it. I like the Truart because the wand doesn't get as hot so I can hold it longer without using finger guards. You also get more in a Truart kit for the same price. The Colwood tips are easier to change though. Either way you go, you're going to get a good machine. What's the most important thing to you about a burner machine?

@@Pyrocrafters Thanks for the response... My use will be primarily on using the burner on Wood carvings but i may try my hand on Pyrography art on flat surfaces, From my research i tend towards the "Colwood Super Pro II" with interchangeable tips. - A pyrographer i often watch and admire is Brenda Wilkie .. Thanks Aney, these reviews are great! I have to agree, the stand on this one is awesome and knowing whether or not you have to use finger guards is good info. I have a Razertip dual and the unit has clips on the side for the pens that leaves the pens exposed and i definitely have to use finger guards.

I just recently bought this burner, and really love it! However, as I am new to this craft, I'm wondering if you could help with the following question; what is the best way to remove carbon paper tracing lines from your wood project once you're done burning? Thanks, and thank you again for this wonderfully detailed review. It was very instrumental in making my purchase.
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mick! I'm so glad you like the TRUArt, it's one of my favorites too. You can remove carbon paper a few different ways. A razor blade is a common way I see other pyrographers do it, but I don't care for razor blades. It's just too risky for me, so I like to use a sanding sponge(amzn.to/32tJD3Q) or a sanding eraser (amzn.to/3s2neYp). It's just easier, safer and it removes the carbon. Or you can go a completely different way and use a graphite stick to create carbon on the back of your template. Just use the stick to scribble/cover the back of your template and then trace. Graphite erases off much easier with a regular eraser.

@Pyrocrafters 4 жыл бұрын
If you're referring to whether or not the wand gets hot enough to burn your fingers, the answer is no. I burned with it for hours at a high heat, and it's the only burner I've used that doesn't hurt my finger tips after burning for a while. A major plus. :)

Is this better than Colwood?
@Pyrocrafters
@Pyrocrafters 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Joseph! I am starting to use the TRUArt more than my Colwood, but it's hard to say if it's "better". They are just different. I think both burners will give you great wood burning results, but there are extra features about each one that may sway you as a user. For example, I can burn with the TRUArt without needing finger guards. That's a BIG deal for me. But the tips are easier to change out on the Colwood. The TRUArt system I'm using has two pens, so changing out the tips isn't bad, but it's still not as smooth as changing them on the Colwood. It's going to come down to what you need as a burner and what's more important to you in the features. Either way, you'll be getting a good machine. :) Thanks for watching!
@EverettJoe
@EverettJoe 4 жыл бұрын
@@Pyrocrafters I am really pleased that you replied to my question! I think your lettering is excellent. I wonder if some of the Colwood tips are better made then wires. Eg: The spears and the spoons. It looks like the Truart is fatter which would make a difference in the way I would have to hold it, since I am a calligrapher. Is the size difference noticable? Thanks again for your considerate response. Mahalo from Hawaii!
