I love this review! My cousin bought our Colwood from Amazon and it came with three tips, a beginner book, the puller tongs to take tips off, two sanders, and some big sheets of graphite papers. It was the perfect starter kit! We love it so much!

Thank you for this review. First I want to start off by saying I really like your "down-to-earth" review. It makes it very enjoyable to listen to. I have a question, you mentioned that you have had this unit for about 4 years, which is awesome, however, what is your go-to burner? I got the impression that you are using some other burner ahead of this one. Would like to get your feedback. Nevertheless, I have gone ahead and purchased a kit from Colwood directly. There were cheaper kits on Amazon; however, I liked the fact that Colewood sends it in a nice metal case and their kit comes with more replaceable tips. You mentioned, it was only a few days after receiving your burner and you went to Colwood to buy some additional tips, so I don't know if the Amazon kit really saved any money. I know you didn't mention this on your video, but as for me, I am always taking my burner with me on trips (e.g., vacation), so having a nice carry case was important and you only get this when buying directly from Colwood.

Al K Thanks! I bought mine on amazon before i really knew anything about wood burning. I got lucky by getting a good burner on amazon, and then went to Colwood directly afterward to buy all my extra tips. I’ve never done the math to see which one was more cost effective overall after buying the tips. I just decided to go for it. :) The cases are nice! I don’t have one, but they are nice hard cases and great for travel.

Hi! I got my super pro 2 from Bear Woods supply, and it just got here a few days ago. I've noticed that the unit makes a buzzing sound when on, particularly when I have the heavy duty side on. Does yours do the same?

Hey Adrienne, no mine doesn’t buzz. Does it buzz no matter what tip you’re using? I would reach out to Colwood. Your unit is probably still under warranty if you only got it a few days ago. They’ll be able to help troubleshoot.

Good morning. So my question is which wood burner is better to buy, this one or the truart stage 2 one? Which one you recommend to buy?

It really depends on your preferences. They are both great machines, but there are some subtle differences that may sway your choice. The Colwood is higher priced and gets really too hot to hold over long periods of time, but is a higher quality machine in my opinion. The TRUArt is still a great machine, but the tips aren't as varied as Colwood and the tip changing process is cumbersome. However, the wand isn't as hot and doesn't require finger guards like the Colwood.

No, the connections aren’t the same shape, but you may be able to get an adapter.

I burnt mine up and just had to order a shading tip and a handle. If you';re not supposed to burn at a ten, why is ten on the dial?

Hey Barry, that's a good question. I've burned at 10 a couple of times and mine withstood the heat, although not for very long. I'm wondering if maybe there was a defect in the wand or something. What did Colwood say?

I’m not sure of the wattage; I don’t see any info about it on their site. If you reach out to them, they may be able to tell you more about it

I thought it would be on the label which should be somewhere on the machine, usually on the bottom and maybe in a very small font;. If I know the wattage, I can determine the cost of running the machine. Thank you again for your response.

I love the colwood burner however their customer service is horrible. I recently emailed them for an order update and I was told to not email them regarding an update. I replied how I thought it was rude and they canceled my order and refunded my payment. That is unacceptable customer service. I was not in anyway rude. I needed an update on a tip order for a custom job which they never did supply me with an update, just a straight up cancel. I used cherrywood toys for my order instead. Buyer beware.
