I was able to get out one last time from Lefroy and good think my buddy brought a 4 ft long 2x4 as the ice from the shoreline started to open up so we used it to cross safely. Caught plenty jumbo's on Sat but in hindsight that was too risky.

This was one crazy ice fishing season. It was short and is going out faster than ever. The season has been an average catching season, with only one nice 15 lbs Laker and a half dozen Whitefish. Not good at all, for me anyways.,lol Lake Simcoe is now not safe for ice fishing as the high winds and warm weather conditions have deteriorated the ice. River Rainbows are next in line for me.. Thanx for the update..
@thewhitefishwizard3 жыл бұрын
No doubt Pete! It really was a weird year. Comparing this season to last.. it sucked for us as well. I caught next to nothing lol oh well that's just the way it goes sometimes! Hopefully some people see these videos and maybe thing twice about going out! glad you got one good Laker though

Awesome footage. She's making lots of noise today. I hear she's piled pretty good on the north side of the island. I've been going out on the ice all my life, and you won't catch me out there, except maybe in an airboat. The warm temps last week and no snow on top, made quick work of the ice. Cheers!!

Any one who loses a truck through the ice should be fined a massive environmental fine, they did a simulated study in Northern Canada once to see what impact a sunken truck has on environment, they used dye in place of hazardous liquids and it was shocking !!!

I was up and ready to go this morning at 5am. The plan was to walk out to a spot I was on Friday (10 minute walk from shore) but I used better judgement and called it off. Definitely much wiser at 40 than at 30. I’d have been on the ice with no second thoughts 5 years ago.

Thanks Sooley!! It was definitely a big learning curve for me. there is some good programs out there and some good tutorials on KZbin on how to use them, only down fall is you need a decent computer to process it all afterwards. An old computer will still do the job just may take super long/ be rough when editing some stuff like time lapses etc.
