And I agree. More gen one stuff. This video was very helpful. I've looked at all the above.

drop in filters + exhaust + tune = great compound effect (possibly up to 50+whp!)

Not really. I would say intake, tune and exhaust might give you 20-30rwhp. It all depends on a few variables.

Gen 1 owner here. Cheapest gains are free: remove all the doors, the tailgate, the spare, un-bolt and remove the exhaust system. All reversible. Loose the weight and they run great. Remove exhaust > custom exhaust.

I would argue there is a compounding effect, as in you don’t sensibly go from zero mods to a supercharger/turbo without supporting mods, such as the cold air intake, gonna require tune, and exhaust mods (especially turbo).
@BeyondTheRaptor2 жыл бұрын
Completly fair. This i just 1 way to look at each option individually.

@@BeyondTheRaptor I’d agree with this point (generally and as a Gen 1 Roush Stage 2 owner) but also enjoyed your video and the index basis. It’s like what you do in your head when playing Gran Tourismo. 🤓😎😁 It would be good to have a bit more on the “butt dyno” feel for the mods too. Surprised at there’s that much to gain simply from the breathing mods, even in Raptor trim. Motor must be quite restricted.
@perrycarditi5 Жыл бұрын
Whipple, throttle body, larger injectors, and a tune. Best ever adds. 10-20 hp gains are essentially meaningless in the real world. Just spend the money and be done with it. 10 hp does all but nothing when towing, hauling a load, passing, etc.
@saleens330 Жыл бұрын
Supporting mods but you say cold air intake??? What do you think cones with a SC kit? They have their own style that you use. Most aftermarket intakes won’t work on that SC unless you mod it. But probably won’t work. And you can definitely go from stock to a SC as they come with everything you need and even a tune. But best is to get a dyno tune. But you don’t need long tubes or exhaust. That’s just a plus but not a must.

Great video! I'd say drop in filters would be a better buy than a cold air intake though. A lot of those cold air intakes are engineered well. By that I mean you may be sucking in things you don't want to be (hot air, water, more dust, etc.).

there are some great filter options out there that filter better and floor better... Im thinking about doing a video on the Donaldson power core filters. Great for offroading or long filter life

I’ve datalogged this years ago since this is so old. Yes, as you sit at a red light IAT temps do go up. As you start to drive, the IAT’s drop to ambient. At times, a degree or 2 lower. That’s why on a dyno they put a cooling fan in front of it. Do they make power? Yes. But they make more with a tune combined with it.

Most supercharger/ turbo kits "most" come with intakes, injectors, fuel pumps, and tune. So ... If you average that in best bang for the buck in my eyes

K&N was the best horsepower per $ but anything with a dry flow filter is best. JDM is the best for the 6.2 raptor tune. Im a big fan of MBRP exhaust best the price per smile…

Most big name tuners will get what you need as in a tune. Xcal to me is the best. Dyno tune is great too unless you know how to data log. I always data log and send the file back for tweeks. I hate KN as their system is always on the conservative side. JLT is way too noisyn sounds bad at wot. I finally bought the SB cold air with dry filter 3 years ago n love it. Exhaust, I’m big on the Corsa performance and it’s awesome. Not too loud and not too quiet. Fit perfect and looks great.

You're missing the final product, if you put ALL of those mods on, you generate considerably more power than the numbers on your chart. You also left out performance heads which have the added benefit of being more robust and longer lasting than the factory heads.

CAI Hp gain of 13 HP 😂 tuner gives 12 😂 this video is great if you believe CAI’s give over 5 Hp. Even back on first gen raptors, Ford’s intake systems were on point and offered the best flow of any fender fed system for the 6.2 v8. Offering Hp to dollar comparisons are at best “cute” but offer no real world performance. Best solution? Dyno tune your 6.2 and safe those overrated K&N systems and unnecessary throttle bodies for this op or any kid with no experience with power gains on NA v8’s.
@BeyondTheRaptor2 жыл бұрын
HP is very variable no doubt. These numbers or based on the average HP and torque gains from publicly available dyno results. Given that tuners made the top of the list and throttle bodies the bottom, feels like we are in agreement here.
@saleens330 Жыл бұрын
CAI and tune together should yield about 13-15rwhp. And not with a KN cai though. I also wouldn’t bother with an aftermarket TB. You can always do a mild port n polish to your own for ultra minimal gains. Slap on a SC and then a TB might be worth it.
@rkneeshaw Жыл бұрын
@@BeyondTheRaptoraverage marketing “dyno” numbers, or real world independent before/after dyno results? BIG differences here. I’ve never seen anyone get anywhere near the hp gains claimed by manufacturers.
