As a newly passed driver completely agree it is painful trying to get a decent job. I am going to have to accept a job which in an ideal world I’d turn down. However hopefully in 6/12 months I can move into something more enjoyable.

I ended up staying on class 2 for another 3 month after passing class 1 because I couldn't get set on anywhere as a new class 1 driver. An agency got in touch with me as a vacancy had come up on containers at macintyres. Did a couple months on days to get the hang of things, then went tramping and loved it, and still work for macintyres now. But yes it is a pain in the arse getting experience to start with.

Thats how it was when i was a chef, you could literally walk out on the friday have weekend off then walk into to another job monday. But yeh as a new pass class 1 trying to find my 1st job is hard. The company i currently work for have a class 1 department doing refrigerated double deckers and they said they will take me, i just have to wait for a vacancy🙏

The problem companyes don`t understand about drivers and they force them start 3-4am, that is not normal. Day shift should start 6-7am ok fair enough. Who wants over 10h a day up to him, who doesn`t then respect his decision and go from there. Most of the drivers are foreigners, english ones are tyred of storyes and bullshits. The driver is not a machine to make money for the business, he has a life too. BTW job security in few years I don`t see purple as IA can replace us, look china with taxis without driver, america will start soon, sweeden with bus without driver... let,s see next. Will be pain for the goverment if robots will takes human jobs as taxes and NI will come from where? I have a long experience with companyes and trucking, we can do a podcast if you want and I can explain how is going the transport businesses in this country, (preffer to be anonimous) cover my face jaja for privacy. All the best man

If you have a job for life, why not get your HGV license and then do some agency work at weekends or on your days off. Then once you have done a couple of shifts you can decide if it is something you want to do full time? Don't leave a job for life just because you are bored mate - you might jump on the wagons and decide you hate it.
