Hi Dani. This was an ever changing situation on the roads on this trip. The roads/highways are constantly changing. Very cloudy day but the scenery was still very interesting to watch. Some fog in the higher elevations. Very steep hills to climb later in your video. Be careful of other drivers and stay warm and healthy. 👍👍👍

That long stretch of road that was labeled as an airport was probably built for war times. There is a video of the Bundeswehr from ‘88 where they show F-4 Phantoms, C-160 Transalls, A-10 Warthogs and a few other planes landing on the autobahn.

Yes exactly man, that's the same I thought, that they have built it for war times. Because place for it was just perfect, no trees, no buildings etc.

There are two tunnels being repaired on this highway. Because there is traffic on Fridays from Sofia and on Sundays to Sofia, the trucks are diverted to the old road.

Yes I got this information later on, really not good to do it during winter, with snow those back roads will be really dangerous, but hopefully they will let trucks go via tunnels for winter.

HEy Dani, I guess you heard the news already but those crazy long waiting times will be a thing of the past, per 1st of january finally Bulgaria and Romania are part of Schengen!

You need to remember that showing your ID and Load paperwork is not the only thing you are doing at the border. (Calafat and Ruse) First of all you are waiting in line to weigh area, where they are checking your weight and if you have Romanian vignette. I doubt that Romanian people will let it go. Second thing is you are stopping, going out from truck to bridge checkpoint, to pay for bridge, with cash or card, you wait for recipe, and then go to your truck and you can go. And those things have nothing to do with being in or out of Schengen. So I bet that line will be still there, but probably a bit shorter. It's going to be a long long time, to a point when crossing between Romania and Bulgaria will be so smooth like between Poland and Slovakia or Slovakia and Hungary.

@@DaniTruckerson Thanks for the clarification! It is unfortunate to see that all those manual steps are limiting a smooth crossing for transport... My dad's an international driver as well but never as far as Bulgaria/Romania
