self employed construction roofer/framer/remodeler. You sound like a great boss to work for. Before i was self employed i was expected to have my own tools, buy all my own work wear. have a truck with a ladder rack. Id say your crew is spoiled! haha

Hey.... its Nice that you think enough of your guys to GIVE THEM Knives at all.. Its a piece of what you love sharing with them. You need not explain yourself to anyone.. Compensating them Well is MOST Important.. If they love knives they can go buy one on their Comfortable Salary.. Now... if you have a Foreman or a lead whos doing a kick ass job and Loves knives thats different, maybe buy em soemthing special but *paying them well is the best thing you can do.. Im in sales 26 years and they have all kinds of prizes and trips and BS JUST PAYME MORE!!! Ill take my own trip.. so youre golden in my book

Don’t give them an expensive knife, you don’t want them coming to this hobby, like us morons (some of us worse than others) 😂, this past 3 months I’ve left carried 2 knives, and barely used 3

I bet your benefits are in top 10% of all small businesses. Again with any small business(under 20 employees)the health plan always tells me the tale not the hourly rate or the other benefits. Health care is crazy expensive for good plans for employees thanks o’ bummer care.. most small companies I have worked for the health plan was the biggest reason employees left on a regular basis. I have never seen a small company offer more than 1k for loyalty rewards. So your 100 dollar value knife gift or company tool you can keep is probably great as far as bonus or tool you can keep. I wouldn’t offer anything from your personal life to employees. I mean this year it’s one of your 400 dollar collectable knives next year it’s a date with your wife(this might be extreme slippery slope LMAO)…As far as trips or company retreats beware if they are too nice employees are gonna start asking why can’t I just get a better health care plan and not have a company retreat. I have always felt the bonus system is the best, company makes more money the company can do two things spend more money on things that go against their profit they make(gifts, company retreats and improved efficiency)or give to employees. The business can’t keep it or they pay a higher tax rate to the government and no one gets anything. PPE for employees is usually provided by the employer because if OSHA rolls up and start handing out fines they are going to give one to your employee and one to you. The fine for the business will be higher and employee fine can also be over 1k. So it pays for employees and employers to be serious about safety. A contractor that worked for my company got a 50k fine for a guy not wearing a harness and the employee was handed a personal 1k fine. The company of course negotiated that down but I heard it was settled at 15k for both…so to all those employee that think they can wear the same hard hat for 20 years you can of course do that but if that hard hat doesn’t pass their inspection your gonna pay osha a couple of hundred or thousand dollars and your boss is going to give you a new hard hat. Lmao 😮😮😮😮😮😮.

Dude Steve... You are doing more than enough. What happens when you spoil a child?... Do you give them the fish or do you teach them how to fish?...If they can't appreciate all that then by all means let em find something better.

Dude, you are very generous with your employees. Its admirable, really. I have never had any employer do what you do. I work for myself now and dont have any employees but if I did I would treat them well of course, but why would I give them a knife from my personal collection?!

Its So funny that you say that brother,, I will never stop loving the big stuff, however, I am in the rocess of evolving.. a Year ago the Hoback Husky and the Prae Ti / On Belay were my faves, and I am starting to favor big knives but not necessarily needing .25" blade Stock.. the SMF's for example.. They Carry soo nice, theyre tough, they feel great in had and have great action.. I will do a Video based on that but I am very excited to get the Norseman! Thank you bud

Yea idk who said that sounds like they resent themselves for never building anything. I provide tools, truck, nights weekends, whatever it takes on a non profit salary. You you know why? Cause this is america-i love my job and choose to stay. Theyre staying cause you treat them well. Anyone with a work ethic in the trades can find a job in 5 min.

Where in Oklahoma do y’all go fishing? I’ve watched a lot of Spoonbill action go down in OK, it’s some exciting stuff and the camaraderie along the banks is fun. I go over there a couple times a year on vacation to watch eagles and will be there on the Neosho river and Grand Lake next week for the Pelican migration festival. Lots of big Blue Cats down in there 🎣 😋 Work, we get 1-2 pair of $160 workbooks free per year. Full uniforms which are hot and uncomfortable as all get out but that is an annual 10K exspense that they do provide. 8-12 hours a month of vacation and 8-12 a month of sick leave is given on top of being closed for all federal holidays. We all get a compensated 2 weeks off for Christmas. Then we’re given a 403b that is a 5% cost to us but the company matches that. One of our big wigs did hand out some Kershaws with that bit driver kit on them awhile back but they didn’t go far enough down the ladder to reach Management 1 where I stand or the Operators under me. If I had my way we’d each get one of them new budget Medfords.
